Our πΆπ Pets as Therapy πΆπ pooches routinely visit the Down Hall to provide our residents with companionship, joy, and nostalgic memories of their own furry friends.
For π Mental Health Awareness Week π we are sharing some of the practical steps we take to support the well-being of our residents here at Down Hall Residential Care Home!
Animal-assisted therapy has a very calming effect on our residents, especially those living with dementia who can feel anxious at times.
The visits bring back fond memories of childhood pets and can be an important link to their past. The familiar feel of stroking a dogβs fur can unlock memories and bring clarity and happiness.
