Setting a benchmark for training, standards, ethics & continuing professional development for Foot Health Practitioners.
Fully accredited by The Institute of Podiatrists. The Institute (parent organisation of CoFH), along with other leading UK professional bodies recognise Podiatry Assistants and Assistant Practitioners in the vital work they perform in support of the registered Podiatry workforce. As a leading professional bodies in the UK we are active members of, and jointly support the work of Health Education England's Foot Health Consortium in its mission to set standards, define roles and give common recognition for associated practitioners. We would remind all followers of our pages about our Respect Inclusion Diversity and Equality (RIDE) policy. Students of the College of Foot Health are taught to level 4 training equivalent to CertHe / HNC, and FHP members must comply with a strict standard of ethics and practice. Our forums are places for professional discussion in a culture of tolerance and mutual respect and we will not hesitate to remove posts and comments that do not reflect RIDE and standards of professional courtesy.

6.0 of the Clinical Domain from Health Education England's Standards for the Foot Health Workforce is based on assisting in theatre. Last week our practical cohort had the opportunity to experience just that by assisting and observing nail surgery performed by one of our leading HCPC registered podiatrists at our clinical training centre.
This was a great opportunity for our Level 4 FHP students to understand what happens after referral to podiatry and the process involved in a nail surgery procedure including post-surgical care.

We have just ONE space left on our October Nail Reconstruction Training – and it’s the final course of the year!
This hands-on training is designed for FHPs and covers a variety of nail reconstruction systems with no extra training costs. Our highly experienced podiatrist tutor will guide you through:
✅ Nail anatomy revision
✅ Consent
✅ Nail plate preparation
✅ System applications
✅ TPO & regulations
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to upskill before the year ends!
You may have seen media reports about the EU ban on TPO, a chemical sometimes used in gel nail polishes.
We want to reassure all of our nail reconstruction CPD attendees - past and future:
✅ None of the products we use in training contain TPO.
✅ Systems we teach with -LCN Wilde Pedique, selected polygels, and Gehwol Nail Repair -are all TPO-free.
At the College of Foot Health and Institute of Podiatrists, we are committed to patient safety, evidence-based practice, and clinician confidence. We will continue to monitor developments in the UK and EU and keep our members informed accordingly.
Your training and your patients’ safety remain our priority.
A full detailed statement has been issued to members this morning.

Foot Health Practitioners are able to treat general conditions that are routinely encountered in everyday life such as the regular care of corns, calluses, dry skin and problem nails for example, as well as basic mechanical problems of the feet.
With the correct training FHPs can usefully accommodate the demand for care arising from the increase in patients with diabetes, obesity and ageing, and also beneficially promote awareness of preventing and treating general foot disorders. They can establish socially valuable, responsible and often very profitable businesses, sometimes as a mature career move or a similar ‘desire for change’.
Completion of any training for FHPs does not entitle the individual to use the term Chiropodist and/or Podiatrist. This title is protected and requires a 3 – 4 year degree and registration with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council).
Chiropodists and Podiatrists in the UK are regulated by law. Misconduct, dangerous or unethical actions can result in legal sanctions against them by the Health and Care Professions Council which also regulates their training etc. There is no statutory regulation of training, standards or their professional actions for the growing number of Foot Health Practitioners (FHPs).
In response to this The College of Foot Health was founded by The Institute of Chiropodists and Podiatrists (IOCP).
With more than 80 years’ of experience in the profession of Chiropody and Podiatry, the IOCP as leading UK professional body recognises that there is an essential requirement to set a definitive benchmark for training, standards, ethics and continuing professional development for the growing profession of Foot Health Practitioners.
Accordingly, the theoretical and practical training offered by The College of Foot Health, which is validated by the IOCP and delivered by highly experienced Podiatrists who are registered IOCP tutors, has been designed to meet the above aims completely.
The Institute is adopting the classical distance-learning approach to training as this will give the student the opportunity to study at their own pace. Our courses are also presented in such a way as to allow access to students with or without prior medical knowledge. As you progress, you will quickly start to understand and use what you have learned. As with any educational programme, we would prefer you to be at least 18, or of an age whereby you feel this programme will be of benefit to you and your goals in life.
The course has all the guidance you need and you will be assigned a dedicated tutor and will be able to enter into discussions with other students and professionals via our web forum.
