Make it your own

I properly gave yoga a go when I was studying abroad. I kind of dipped in and out of practice but the connection remained as I always went back to it. I then found my teacher next to whom I became devoted to the practice and gradually realised how much yoga helps me realise what's really important in life. Yoga allows me to meet myself on the mat without any judgement and explore what’s within so it doesn’t overwhelm me. Since then I have become an advocate of strength as you can be born flexible but you become strong through continuous practice. But foremost, we need to learn how to be kind to ourselves and through that we can shape the practice to make it our own. As I'm getting to know myself and my body better, I know when to push myself harder and turn my practice up a notch. Equally, if it’s not my day, I take an extra child’s pose instead of a down dog to rest and not feel guilty about it. By letting go of the pressures of following someone else's journey, I'm making my practice my own. It doesn’t matter how tough life gets, how challenging work or relationships can get. Yoga is always there to help me come home to myself and my truth. It also reminds me not to seek anything outside of myself and it’s all already there. Love, empathy, passion. Yoga helps me be me and speak from the best part of me. My kind of yoga helps me with healing from physical and emotional vulnerability from when I was younger and a bit lost. With a strong and dynamic practice, my confidence in my body grew, and with this, my sense of trust in the world.

Yoga really is a never ending journey of exploration. Every day is different and every time I meet myself on the mat, I remind myself to honour my body's yes's and no's and embrace what the practice has to offer.

I mainly teach various Vinyasa flows with strong elements inspired by Ashtanga. I have a 200 hour certification and have trained in Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin and Restorative Yoga.
