This is a question I get asked a lot.
During a massage, I am completely present in the moment.
For me, the session acts as a form of meditation; conscious and intentional movement, touch and connection.
It is as sacred time when vulnerability, trust and energy is shared.
To enter this state, I take time before every client to clear the energy and ground myself.
As a client, you will never feel like you are just another 'job', or client on my daily conveyor belt. I am focused on you, and attuned to you on many levels.
This is a much different approach than you will find at a spa or high street parlour - and why I have developed ongoing professional relationships with many of my clients spanning years.
Obviously there are the practical matters that I am always aware of, such as posture and positioning, the temperature of your skin (and my hands!), respectful towel placement, physical reactions to pressure/touch and noise from outside.
On an energetic level, there is a complex interplay between me 'listening' or sensing the mapping of your energy, while intentionally sending out energy and messages to your highest self.
When my client is particularly open during the session, this 'marinates' with me and the energy surrounding us.
I often receive clear 'knowings' which drop onto my consciousness, as if a pathway has revealed itself. When I feel into this, it is much like an undeniable magnetic pull drawing me towards truth.
Often clients make subtle movements which tells me more. There have been many times when I have know that a client is about to speak during the massage because I can sense the shift in energy.
More often than not, performing massage is a grounding experience for me.
The mantras and frequencies played are so deeply embedded within me that movements and strokes become synchronised. This harmony regulates the nervous system and brings immense calm. Deep co regulation is shared between us which can often feel very powerful. It creates flow which many have said just feels 'right'.
Afterwards, it can be helpful to share our experience to begin the integration process. This continues to unfold in the coming hours and days.
