In honour of World Refugee Day yesterday - 20th June Damali Beautiful Vision CIC want to highlight that for many refugees there is the experience of loss.

The loss of a home, a friend, an environment that they once new, items that hold sentimental value and there can also be the loss of a young child, baby or young adult that they were connected to.

To loose someone suddenly without the chance to say goodbye is painful and can leave a family and or a person in long term grief and complex grief.

We are here to support Black Global Majority families and individuals who are navigating sudden loss.

If you know of anyone going through sudden bereavement please get in touch.
We also accept self referrals.

A big huge "Thank you!" πŸ€— to Hampton for inviting our Founder Aisha to deliver a Q&A presentation last Wednesday in regards to her lived experience of navigating sudden bereavement in Hackney as a women of colour - from the Black Global Majority community.

Aisha Peters spoke about the challenges faced years ago with not having a compassionate space and or health & wellbeing services that suited her cultural and heritage needs. And gave tips on how services that are predominately White/European/ British and non- Black Global Majority, how they can have more positive and intentional training and compassionate processes to support closing the gaps of health and wellbeing inequalities that Black Global Majority families and individuals often face, especially when navigating sudden bereavement here in London.

This truly is a proud moment for us πŸ’
And we look forward to doing more work like this for our community with the intention of making great change!

How could we forgot sharing about our collaboration with Leaside Trust for the Hackney Downs resident forum - More Action, More Energy! πŸ’«πŸ’«πŸ’«

We've been so busy this month of March that we nearly forgot to mention that we helped to host another Forum.

The health priority focus - Children, Young People, enhancing services and encouraging physical activities πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸš£πŸš£β€β™€οΈπŸš΄πŸš΄β€β™€οΈ

Our CEO & Founder has hosted three events this month and the Hackney Downs resident forum was one of them.
Aisha Peters - Hackney CVS Neighbourhood Facilitator managed to find three sponsors for the Nutrition Quiz prizes too.

Core Clapton - 1 hour massage voucher
and 10-day pass for Yoga

Tram Store - A Dinner For Two vouchers and

Hub Velo - Two Children and Young People's bike helmet.

These prizes really went down a treat.
20 families in total attended along with 30 Children & Young People. This was AMAZING!
We were asked "Can we do this again?" 🀩

It was lovely to have Immediate Theatre and Springfield Young People's Club attend to share information about their services too.
Jo Carter - Creative Director for Immediate Theatre expressed how glad she was to reconnect with Springfield and hopes that Immediate Theatre and Springfield can collaborate together soon. πŸ˜‡

All in all a great day was had.
The outcomes; Creating local VCS to resident connections, VCS - VCS connections, enhancing access to local physical activities services, bringing people together, positive impact for physical wellness, resident engagement and resident engagement for physical activities.

What more could we ask for.

Today, we were invited to speak at the Mental Health Forum speaking on Sudden Bereavement for the Global Majority community πŸ’™

Our Founder & CEO gave an amazing presentation πŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏ in regards to her lived experience as a mum navigating sudden bereavement, the inequalities, the gaps experienced by Global Majority families, and how we can work to a more compassionate alignment in harmony to make positive change for beneficiaries.

The forum was hosted by EPIC HEALTH TEAM πŸ™πŸΏ "Thank you!"

So much was shared and unearthed.
We hope that from this forum discussion, statutory and voluntary sector services can work together more to close the gap in mental and emotional health inequalities for global majority families navigating sudden bereavement.

We look forward to sharing more about the process of progress as the journey flows.

This is a gentle reminder to take care of you. You can find support to help unpack your trauma.
When you loose a young child or a young adult it can change your life not just externally but also internally.
Somatic exercises for healing trauma is a great way to release trauma from the body.
Somatic exercises allow you to release trauma gently and in a lot of cases with sudden bereavement, grief and complex grief we need to be very gentle with ourselves externally and internally.
