I do not recommend that you have massage if you are feeling unwell generally, such as suffering from a cold or 'flu or if you have any infection or high temperature – massage can make you feel worse in those circumstances. If you are in acute pain, suffering from Migraine, it is best to wait until this lessens before having a massage session.

*Massage does not replace medical care but is intended to support the healing process. If you have health concerns please consult your G.P.

MASSAGE helps to release tension, calm the nerves and reduce stress and anxiety. Increasing blood flow and lymph flow through massage can help with the healing process, in order for the bones to heal they need a good blood supply, increased lymph flow not only removes waste products from the body but also reduces inflammation and the excess lymph is removed from the area.
Massage encourages the body’s natural painkillers to set in; therefore massage can help reduce the amount of painkillers or anti-inflammatory tablets needed.
Certain aromatherapy oils can be combined with massage to aid relaxation, reduce swelling, increase blood flow and reduce pain.

🌻🌹Aromatherapy🌲🌳

April is ‘Stress Awareness Month’. Throughout this month we aim to share some tips on helping to understand stress and what you can do to help balance and manage it.

Today we're focusing on the benefits of Aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils from plants for their therapeutic properties, these oils are used in holistic treatments to improve physical and emotional well-being.
Essential oils are substances extracted from a botanical source by various methods including distillation or expression. They can be from leaves, stems, flowers, trees, twigs and are absorbed into the body through inhalation (via the olfactory system) or absorption (via the skin).

Why would these help with stress?
Each essential oil has it's own unique chemical make up, and this results in variations of effects, smell and absorption. Depending on their chemical properties, the therapeutic properties are determined.
The essential oils can be used via different methods including massage, inhalers, cosmetics and more.

For stress and anxiety, it's likely that the usual suspects such as Lavender, Frankincense or Chamomile will pop up. But there are many other wonderful oils, including some citrus oils such as Petitgrain or Grapefruit. (Note that most citrus oils are phototoxic!) Oils like Rose, Vetiver or Geranium are also great.

However, it's important to note that not all essential are safe to use for everyone, we go into more detail about Aromatherapy and the safety guidelines on our blog here - https://bit.ly/2XQfM6j

If you don't have any essential oils, that's fine!
You can also buy Frankincense incense (great for meditation) Lavender and Chamomile teas & many more alternatives to receive the same calming benefits without using essential oils.
You will also find the plants in the great outdoors or in your kitchen! These include Lemon Balm, Chamomile and Lavender.

So, once in a while try to 'remember to stop and smell the roses'.

Essential oils have a long history use as antibacterial medicines, and increasingly researchers are finding evidence that validates their use in traditional healing paradigms . . .

In line with the CNHC & government guidelines any therapy that involves hands on treatment has had to be suspended until further notice.

That means no massage😞unless it's self-massage of course which is very good for boosting your immune system🤗

We just received this and it’s really worth sharing:

Finally, some sensible advice.

Good advice in, 'Queen's English', from a nurse..

“What I have seen a lot of are recommendations for how to try to avoid getting coronavirus in the first place -- good hand washing, personal hygiene and social distancing -- but what I have NOT seen a lot of is advice for what happens if you actually get it, which many of us will. So as your friendly neighborhood Nurse let me make some suggestions:

You basically just want to prepare as though you know you’re going to get a nasty respiratory bug, like bronchitis or pneumonia. You just have the foresight to know it might come your way!

Things you should actually buy ahead of time (not sure what the obsession with toilet paper is?):
Kleenex,
Paracetamol,
whatever your generic, mucus thinning cough medicine of choice is (check the label and make sure you're not doubling up on Paracetamol)
Honey and lemon can work just as well!
Vick vaporub for your chest is also a great suggestion.

If you don’t have a humidifier, that would be a good thing to buy and use in your room when you go to bed overnight. (You can also just turn the shower on hot and sit in the bathroom breathing in the steam).

If you have a history of asthma and you have a prescription inhaler, make sure the one you have isn’t expired and refill it/get a new one if necessary.

This is also a good time to meal prep: make a big batch of your favorite soup to freeze and have on hand.

Stock up on whatever your favorite clear fluids are to drink - though tap water is fine you may appreciate some variety!

For symptom management and a fever over 38°c, take Paracetamol rather than Ibuprofen.

Hydrate (drink!) hydrate, hydrate!
Rest lots. You should not be leaving your house! Even if you are feeling better you may will still be infectious for fourteen days and older people and those with existing health conditions should be avoided!
Ask friends and family to leave supplies outside to avoid contact.

You DO NOT NEED TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL unless you are having trouble breathing or your fever is very high (over 39°C) and unmanaged with meds. 90% of healthy adult cases thus far have been managed at home with basic rest/hydration/over-the-counter meds.

If you are worried or in distress or feel your symptoms are getting worse, ring 111 and they will advise if you need to go to hospital. The hospital beds will be used for people who actively need oxygen/breathing treatments/IV fluids.

If you have a pre-existing lung condition (COPD, emphysema, lung cancer) or are on immunosuppressants, now is a great time to talk to your Doctor or specialist about what they would like you to do if you get sick.

One major relief to you parents is that kids do VERY well with coronavirus— they usually bounce back in a few days (but they will still be infectious), Just use pediatric dosing .

Be calm and prepare rationally and everything will be fine. Share this as it's great advice!"
