Then & Now: Body Mind Unwind
Back in 2014, my flyer for Body Mind Unwind was already talking about:
Breath for mental clarity
Myofascial release and neuro-muscular therapy
Tools to ease stress and pain
Being kind to ourselves in movement
At the time, these ideas weren’t widely seen in community classes. They were simply what felt right to me as a way of helping people move and feel better.
I’ve always been a lifelong learner — often exploring the edges quietly, following my curiosity. Over time, many of those edges have become part of the mainstream conversation: fascia, nervous system regulation, trauma-aware movement.
Today, Body Mind Unwind continues to evolve. It now weaves together:
Yoga Tune Up® therapy balls for fascia release
Muscle activation (Douglas Heel’s Be Activated) to reset patterns
Therapeutic movement informed by yoga, pilates and functional training
A nervous-system-first approach: working with fight/flight/freeze, baselines, and the power of breath
Because here’s the truth: you can’t build lasting strength if you’re stuck in fight, flight or freeze. Push through in that state and your body will compensate… until one day it gives out. (“I was fine… then my back just went” might sound familiar.)
New Term Starts September
Tuesdays 5.45–7pm Hybrid (online Spectrum Wellness, Southwell) → Sept 2nd
Wednesdays 12.45–2pm Face-to-face (Tozer Studio, Southwell) → Sept 3rd
