Because of this, the clinics are heavily discounted - £20

What does this consist of?

🔬Comprehensive trichology consultations (1-1.5 hours), Harley Street

OR

📍Treatments clinics, Wella Studios

All clinics are run by qualified board registered trichologists from The Institute of Trichologists

Next week is our annual International Training Week, where students from across the globe are flying in to gain practical experience ✈️

I have attended these clinics as a student, a patient, and now attend as a member of the education team and they are truly insightful for those with concerns about their hair and scalp.

Tomorrow, the next class of the Institute of Trichologists graduate… and it suddenly hit me that I never even shared my own graduation 🎓

Life swept me up so quickly afterwards that the moment passed in a blur.

I LOVED every second studying with the and graduating with my peers will forever be bittersweet - proud that we made it but sad that it meant closing such a special chapter. We went through it all together! But a year down the line, I am so proud to see the trichologists we all are today.

I was incredibly honoured to receive the Keith Hobbs FIT Award for Outstanding Achievement, a man whose passion, time, and dedication to trichology education inspired so many. To be recognised for the same values - passion, perseverance, commitment to learning, and overcoming challenges - means more than I can put into words.

It now feels surreal that I’m on the other side of things, part of the education team, and will be cheering on the next year group to graduate when it doesn’t even feel like 5 minutes since my own. To the 2024/25 graduates - enjoy every second. You’ve earned it. I can’t wait to cheer you all on 👏🏼

Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of returning to London to assist the with clinical treatments during their international week. The international week is an intensive week where IOT students from around the globe are able to gain practical in clinic training. It was such a joy to meet all the students and I can’t wait to cheer them on next week at their graduation 🎓

Speaking from experience as my time as a student with the IOT, the practical clinical training is such an important element of the Level 5 Clinical Diploma, as it allows you to build the confidence and feel comfortable attending to real life patients long before you qualify.

Not only have I previously been a student and assisted training in this space at but I have attended as a patient too - it feels an incredible unique position to have experienced all three!

Back in May I had the privilege of participating in a workshop at the Members’ Weekend alongside fellow EB member Sophie Burton, and Dr Kerry Montgomery and Dr Maia Thornton from the Centre for Appearance Research

Our session, “EB and Me: Navigating EB in an appearance-conscious world”, was a candid conversation about the highs, the lows, and everything in between. We explored topics like dating, confidence, and sharing our experiences of EB, while also highlighting practical strategies and resources that can really make a difference.

For me, it was a true pinch-me moment. As someone who struggled deeply during my formative years with the psychosocial implications of living with EB, to now be speaking with others who have a lived experience, and see the potential these conversations can have was nothing short of transformative. This conversation reminded me of the power of community, honesty, and shared voices 🦋

What can this hand-held device tell a trichologist about your hair and scalp?

A trichoscope is as a diagnostic aid than can be used during trichology consultations. A certified clinical trichologist is trained to looking out for visual markers that identify different types of alopecia, scalp conditions, interruptions in the hair growth cycle, address hair shaft disorders, help differentiate between temporary hair shedding (telogen effluvium) and genetic thinning (MPHL/FPHL), and so on…

Not only that, getting up close and personal allows us to:

✔️ Differentiate between scarring and non-scarring conditions
✔️ Monitor scaly scalp conditions
✔️ Address follicular activity
✔️ Review inflammation
✔️ Tool to feedback to patients about their condition

What happens in a consultation with a Trichologist?

The consultation process is very thorough and may take up to an hour. During the consultation, all aspects of your scalp or hair problem will be discussed at length to determine the correct diagnosis of your condition. The Trichologist will go through your full medial history, and discuss a range of aspects of your lifestyle. This can include: your diet, family history, any stress you may be under and any medications you may be on. The Trichologist will then conduct a thorough examination of your hair and scalp, which may include the use of a scalp microscope or magnifying glass.

As tomorrow marks the first day of 2024 World Trichology Conference hosted by at the Dusit Thandi Hotel in Dubai. I thought I would post a throw back to the 2023 World Trichology Conference hosted by x in London at the Royal Society of Medicine.

I was still a trichology student when I attended last year but listening to all the speakers discuss the advancements within the field sparked an excitement within me for the many years to come. Now I have qualified, I can’t wait to connect with my peers and learn about their specialist interests, as well as learn about the most recent research and findings from all the speakers of this year’s conference.
