Indoors we offer spacious living space with a number of lounges and areas where you can relax or undertake an activity. Our bedrooms have call points, and washing & ensuite options. We enco
urage you to bring any important personal items but can offer a fully furnished option. We provide assistive technology such as pressure mats & alert sensors. For privacy and security, bedrooms have lockable facilities and keys available. The home has dedicated staff who will talk to you about what you enjoy doing as it is important that our programmes incorporate your skills and areas of interest. There is an on-going in-house programme of activities. We are also sourcing additional services like manicures and personal fitness programmes, we are working hard to establish a base of volunteers to support you with gardening and other activities that are important to you. The home has access to a minibus which can accommodate wheelchairs and regular outings are arranged. The Reverend from Fleet Baptist Church visits us monthly; if you have specific religious needs, we can identify the local group and support you to attend or receive visits. Capricorn also has The Hive cafe, which can be used throughout the day – whenever you wish - for a cappuccino or a hot chocolate, to read the papers, have a chat or hold a review, somewhere different to take your family or when you just want to enjoy the garden and have some peace and quiet. The Hive is also used as a tuck shop so you can buy sweets and chocolate. We provide 24 hour care through our team of dedicated staff, and ensure that the care we provide is person centred and truly supports dignity and choice. In addition to our team residents can access a range of healthcare and wellbeing services. Our team is supported by community healthcare professionals who regularly visit the Home upon request, such as GP, District Nurse, or a Podiatrist Speech and Language therapist. Capricorn also offers a Day Care service for adults with a learning disability aged 18 and over. Daily programmes are provided to suit the student’s individual needs. Activities available are education, leisure, outings, games, crafts, cooking, hobbies, horticulture, reminiscence, reality orientation, initiating interaction, chair bound activities and personal development skills. We strongly believe that every student has the right to learn and enjoy activities whilst at the centre, and enjoy being part of the community. We recognise that everyone is different and the care we deliver reflects this. We aim to create a secure, relaxed, happy and homely atmosphere for our residents and staff. At Capricorn Cottage we are proud to continually invest in the safety of our residents and staff. We have installed new contactless temperature stations, with facial recognition facilities and temperature sensors! When you join us as an Activities Coordinator, you will use your creativity and energy to shape the days and make them feel bright, welcoming and full of life.
