We had a gentle morning opening cards and playing skittles with our plastic bottle snowmen. We knew we needed to save our energy for our Christmas party in the afternoon. Vinny entertained us with range of songs that really got us dancing. He even took a special request so Ann and Ken could dance to their song. Our amazing team in the kitchen put on a fabulous spread and Jill’s Christmas cake was something special. We had such a fun day but are all ready for our cocoa and PJs now 🎄🌲🎅🎂⛄️

Trip today and we had a walk around Peterborough Cathedral. What a fab time it was, so many gorgeous, decorated Christmas trees, and so much history! We had a pit stop for a much needed warming hot chocolate and saw this handsome chap enjoying a pup cup.
We have decorated our Christmas cake this afternoon, it was quite a serious business deciding where to place our decorations! 🌲🎄🎅🎂

It’s been a busy few days here at beech lodge. Jill braved the rain to top up our bird feeders. We’ve been opening Christmas cards by the dozen and turning plastic bottles into snowman skittles ready for some games at our residents Christmas party on Thursday. We’ve exhausted ourselves with some Carol Karaoke with instruments. Who knew we were so loud?! Our lovely ladies from bible group visited for some stories and colouring. They come to see us every month without fail so a big thank you to Carol, Jill and Sara.

We had some time reminiscing this week and travelled back in time to watch some Basil Brush, Jean in particular enjoyed him. This inspired us to make our own jigsaw foxes out of a paper template. A couple of our residents enjoyed a family dog walk on a lively day. Lots of us took part in Christmas Jumper day and even designed some of our own 😃

One of our winners from the Christmas Fayre, Les was very happy with his hamper donated by FreshLinc 💕. We had a busy day crafting and gaming today at beech lodge, making some mosaic Christmas gifts . I’m sure some people were cheating at connect four! Keith got some Christmas cards and was over the moon with the one from Ginge the cat. David was less than thrilled at his chocolate hiding in today’s advent tree and promptly gave it to Derek 🤣

After the excitement of yesterday’s Christmas fair, today was more of a quieter affair. This morning we made some compostable bird feeders from oranges, filled them and then hung them up in the garden. We also decided to fill up our bird table as well. This afternoon we had a nice quiet time watching a Christmas film and enjoying popcorn and cheesie snacks! It was day 8 of the advent calendar which Jean was delighted to get, and our resident “gardener” Michael had a new plant to take care of. We’ve repotted it with some nice new compost and put it on the window sill in the hope we can revive it… and the Xmas cactus has got buds on again!! fingers crossed. 🥀🌹🍊🍊🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛

What a fab afternoon we’ve had, so many visitors and lots of smiles and laughter.. we’ve played pass the parcel, had a sing-a-long and spent some money on the tombola and raffle. Big thank yous to all families and friends who popped in to see us, our chef Madeline, our carers, lovely Linda on reception and the amazing wellbeing co-ordinators who made such a fun afternoon happen.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!! Another Christmas cake was made, Christmas decorations painted and hung and Christmas wreaths tied….
John got the honour of opening day 1 of our advent calendar and got a tasty chocolate treat!

This morning we got busy making chocolate stirrers ready for our Christmas Fayre on Sunday. I think we got more chocolate on us than in the moulds but we had fun. Beryl enjoyed licking the bowl afterwards but who doesn’t.

This afternoon we really tested our dexterity making some origami Christmas trees. Take a good look, if you find some at the Christmas fayre there may just be a prize for you!! 🎅🎅🎄🌲⛄️🎁🎁
And we also managed to fit in a quick game of bowls….busy busy busy!
