Got a race date in the diary for the year? Or just lacing up for fun with the lighter nights drawing out?

Make sure you keep on top of your recovery with sports massage 🏃🏻‍♀️

Benefits of massage therapy for running include:
▫️Improved circulation - massage helps stimulate blood flow to the muscles, which is essential for delivering oxygen and nutrients, and removing metabolic waste products.
▫️Reduced muscle tension - the receptive motion of running can lead to tight leg muscles and imbalances. Massage can target these areas, releasing tight muscles and increasing flexibility.
▫️Increase flexibility and range of motion - massage helps increase flexibility and range of motion in joints which is beneficial for runners as this contribute to better running technique and reduce strain on muscles and joints.

Recovery is the ‘restoration to a former or better condition’. Our minds and bodies are put through lots of stress daily and recovery is key to avoiding injury and illness.

Recovery methods include:
▫️Remaining hydrated
▫️Eating correctly
▫️Resting
▫️Stretching our muscles
▫️Sleeping for ~8 hours per night
▫️Getting a massage
And avoid overtraining!

✨Releasing Those Tight Glutes✨

The ‘glutes’ are made up of three main gluteal muscles; the gluteus maximas, gluteus medius, and gluteus minimus, as well as the piriformis. These muscles play a key role in facilitating everyday activities, heavily influencing the movement and positioning of the lower spine and pelvis, and are some of the biggest muscles in our body.

Tight or weak glute muscles can cause biomechanical imbalances in the pelvis, imbalances in surrounding muscles, and instability in the lower spine. Overtraining these muscles or spending a lot of time sitting down can lead to tension in the glutes and can further cause lower back pain.

Stay on top of those tight glutes with regular massage, soft tissue release exercises, strengthening exercises, and stretching exercises.
