I’m Lyn Penman, Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist, former Midwife and Mum to four amazing children.
I started my career as a Midwife and have a Bachelors Degree in Midwifery. I then moved into Pharmaceuticals working in pain management within the NHS and the private sector.
I then had an eleven year career break to have my family and look after my daughter and three sons. This has been THE most rewarding experience but at times a very challenging one and has taken me mentally and emotionally to places I never thought possible.
I have been there, felt that, thought that! You are not alone.
I am now a Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist having trained with the prestigious Clifton Practice. I hold my Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and also did further study and portfolio work to gain my Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma.
I love the outdoors, I love yoga....
And I LOVE my children…. Well 80% of the time…..
One of my gorgeous clients said to me recently:
‘Lyn you are my PT for my mind’
I loved this and think it sums me up nicely. We all need to work hard to keep our minds healthy.
Let me support you on your journey...
I look forward to getting to know you and sharing what has been life changing for me,
Lyn
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a positive, forward thinking, combination of modern psychotherapy and hypnosis and is based on research and current neuroscience. Whilst the past is acknowledged and respected, the therapy focuses on where you are now and where you would like to be. From the very first appointment we explain and discuss in detail how the brain works. This is so empowering as it allows us to understand why we suffer the way we do and what we can do about it.
At the end of the appointment we will use a short hypnosis to create a pleasant state of relaxation. Hypnosis is simply a state of focused attention and is something we all naturally go in and out of during the day when we are driving or engrossed in a good book. Hypnosis helps to allow goals and new possibilities to be taken on board by the sub-conscious mind. Relaxing and focusing in this way can also give you mental and emotional ‘time out’, which can help you to gain useful new perspectives and insight:
Reducing stress and anxiety levels
Improving low mood and depression
Relieving the physiological symptoms of stress eg panic attacks, IBS and Migraine
Improving sleep
Overcoming confidence issues, public speaking, job interviews
Taking control of obsessive behaviours and overthinking
Managing pain
Removing fears and phobias
Helping greatly during pregnancy, birth and post-natal period
Infertility support
Miscarriage and stillbirth
Overcoming previous birth trauma
Allowing you to be the best parent/partner/friend you can be
Allowing you to find yourself again
