Overseas NHS Workers Day – 6 March

Did you know that around one in five NHS staff in England report a non-British nationality?

Launched in 2021 by Dr Pushpo Hossain, International Medical Graduate Lead at DAUK, Overseas NHS Workers Day is a chance to recognise and celebrate the incredible doctors, nurses, support staff and professionals from around the world who make our NHS what it is today.

Across our services, colleagues from diverse nations bring expertise, compassion and dedication to patients and communities every single day — and we are proud to work alongside them.

On 6 March, let’s come together to say thank you to our overseas NHS colleagues — your contribution is valued, appreciated and essential. 💚

That’s a wrap on National Apprenticeship Week 2026!

This week we’ve celebrated colleagues across our services who are developing their careers through apprenticeships from leadership and admin roles to clinical practice and specialist pathways.

Their stories show how apprenticeships help you:
✅ Gain recognised qualifications
✅ Build confidence and skills on the job
✅ Grow your career while making a real difference to patients

Whether you’re starting out, changing direction, or progressing in your role, there’s an apprenticeship pathway for you.

Thank you to everyone who shared their journeys and inspired others to take that next step 💙

It’s National Apprenticeship Week 2026 and we’re shining a light on the real impact apprenticeships make across our services.

Meet Lisa, our Advanced Support Practitioner in Speech and Language Therapy, who is completing her Speech and Language Therapy Degree Apprenticeship at the University of Hertfordshire while working in practice.

For Lisa, the biggest benefits have been:
✨ Building clinical skills and knowledge
✨ Growing confidence
✨ Putting theory into practice straight away

“Go for it, take the leap and you will succeed!”

Apprenticeships offer the chance to earn, learn and make a difference at the same time, developing your career while supporting patients and families every day.

For HIV Testing Week, the Milton Keynes Outreach Team were working with the Blood Borne Virus (BBV) team at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

Advice, guidance and information about HIV was given, as well as the opportunity to have a finger prick HIV test, without an appointment, which was well received by those attending the hospital today.

A huge thank you to the BBV team for their support!
