✨️ We are winners✨️

What a night we had at the ICC Birmingam celebrating all the outstanding achievements within the care industry for the Great British Care Awards.

Our regional finalist were all up against the rest of the country.

The evening could not of got off to a better start as Connaught Care Group scooped the award for Care Home employer of the year 🏆👏. A Huge achievement and recognition to the amazing team we have.

Within the various other award nominations were our very own Henbrook House events team who were up against a diverse range of amazing people and groups who provide outstanding work within the care sector.

Our East of England regional finalists couldn't quite nab the national award but were shortlisted in the top 11 of the country. An outstanding achievement in itself.👏👏

As we now enter our 3rd year, the team here at Henbrook House and the wider Connaught Care homes look to go from strength to strength in providing award winning person centred care.

✨️ The week that was✨️

As we begin to see the end of winter, it was another full week here at Henbrook House 🏡.

We started with lots of energy with our Active Lifestyle fitness class together with a visit from our adorable bunny's Henny & Brook.🐇🐇

Let's not forget the weekly visit from the tiny tots and their childminders. 👶

Outings this week saw the Henbrook Harriers take to the indoor bowls once more. Together with a touch of retail therapy, garden centre trip and our monthly memory choir trip, we ensured that a varied range was on offer to our residents.

Meanwhile back at home, we were entertained by our George Formby tribute act who displayed amazing talent with the variety of stringed instruments he bought along.🪕🎶

Singing was definately in the air as our events coordinator Jade Cummings hosted our very own songs from the musicals choir evoking memories from days gone by. 🎶🎤

Every quarter we host a full residents and relatives meeting led by our general manager Michael. This gives everyone an insight into our home and opportunities for our management team to take on the views and questions of relatives and their loved ones.

Indoor games were a plenty with croquet, petanque, more nerf gun fun and residents favourite, Hangman.

Our memory floor enjoyed a spot of adapted water colour art and the week wouldn't be complete without a touch of Chinese New year arts and crafts.

🌟✨ A Dream Come True! ✨🌟

At Connaught Care Collection - Henbrook House we always make every effort to go above and beyond, and here is another amazing example of that...

The incredible talent of Collabro captured the hearts of many and won the 2014 series of Britains got talent, including our dear friend and resident Joyce. After losing her best friend in 2022, Joyce found solace in their beautiful music through youtube, which helped her through some of her darkest days and helped lift her out of depression. 💔🎶

Fast forward to 2024, Joyce was luckily able to purchase tickets to see Collabro live in Birmingham! But just when excitement was peaking, Joyce faced a setback breaking her hip. This resulted in Joyce handing her tickets over to somebody who also missed out on the sale of the tickets. 😢❤️

Determined not to let this dream slip away, events manager Brian Moore reached out to the amazing Jamie Lambert, the lead singer of Collabro, to share Joyce's inspiring story. To our delight, Jamie was moved by Joyce’s passion and invited her as a special guest to their recent show at Ely Cathedral, complete with a meet and greet together with her daughter Kirsty Hazell and Henbrooks very own Gemma Keech ! 🌈💖

We are beyond thrilled to have literally made Joyce's dream come true! Thank you, Collabro, for bringing joy and music into Joyce's life. Here’s to the power of music, friendship, and dreams! 🎤✨

For our Henbrook team, supporting those living with Dementia and Alzheimers goes far beyond helping with physical needs. It is about protecting dignity, identity, and emotional safety for people who's memory and abilities are changing.

Even when someone needs help dressing, eating or washing, our care team encourage them to do as much as they safely can to preserve dignity and independence.

Structured activities help maintain cognitive function and wellbeing:

✨️Reminiscence sessions

✨️Music and art therapy

✨️Gentle exercise

✨️Sensory activities

✨️Social interaction, group events and outings.

To further aid wellbeing, residents are involved in supporting the staff here by helping out around the home thus providing a sense of self worth.

Love is in the Henbrook Air

It was a day to celebrate friendships and togetherness as staff, residents and relatives came together along with our amazing community for our 2nd Valentines Day here in our wonderful home. 🏡❤️

From themed wordsearches and biscuit creations to creative crafts and a valentines quiz, love was definately in the air.

And we didnt stop there. Opportunities to send eco friendly degradable balloons to the skies with messages for our loved ones in heaven was then folllowed by an amazing performance from the vocal talents of MollyJane. A performance that took us on a journey of love songs from 1940's up to present day.

An amazing time had by everyone full of smiles, joy and most of all... love ❤️❤️❤️

🌟Local Spotlight: St Neots Day Centre (VWA - Voluntary Welfare Association) 🌟

Today, I had the pleasure of spending time at the St. Neots Day Centre. with the incredible Jo Snooks and her dedicated team. What an amazing service they provide! 🙌

Attendees can come and spend time socialize in a safe and engaging environment, make new friends and enjoy some brilliant entertainment provided by Jo and her team.🚌🥰

Many of the ladies and gentlemen that use the service can benefit from council funding and have access to the council minibus, ensuring they can participate in this vital service. It’s a haven for those who aren’t quite ready for residential care, or starting on their dementia journey but still need support and companionship. 🤗

The center operates every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, welcoming not just attendees but also their caregivers if required.. 🎉🙋

Funding for services like this remains a significant concern . As a registered charity, the St Neots Day Centre continually strives to raise funds to keep their vital services running. 💖

Let’s support our local charities and help spread the word about the incredible work they do! 👏👏👏
