✨ Here are 3 ways to manage anxiety and find calm ✨
1️⃣ Anchor calmness: Close your eyes and recall a time you felt completely relaxed. Breathe deeply and vividly relive that moment. As you do, press your thumb and forefinger together to ‘anchor’ the feeling in your body. With practice, you can trigger this calm whenever you need it - simply by squeezing your thumb and forefinger.
2️⃣ Breathing: Exhaling deeply activates your body’s natural calming system. Practising 4-6 breathing every day trains your mind and body to relax - so when stress hits, the technique works even faster. Breathe in for 4, out for 6. Repeat 10 times, 3 times a day - and use it whenever you need instant calm.
3️⃣ Change the metaphor: if anxiety feels like a “tornado” in your chest or a “knot” in your stomach, use visualisation to change it. Picture and feel that tornado dissipating or the knot loosening and relaxing. The thoughts and pictures you create in your mind shape how you feel - so taking control of those images will help promote calm.
