πŸ’¬ Medication information for patients

Some patients may have seen recent media coverage about medicines called GLP-1 receptor agonists. These are used to treat type 2 diabetes and sometimes for weight management. Examples include semaglutide, liraglutide, dulaglutide and tirzepatide.

For most people, these medicines are safe and effective. However, the MHRA has reminded healthcare professionals about a very rare side effect called pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas).

We are sharing this so you know when to seek advice, not to cause concern.

Please contact a healthcare professional urgently if you are taking one of these medicines and develop:

Ongoing or severe tummy pain, especially if it spreads to your back

Feeling sick or vomiting along with the pain

If you are taking a GLP-1 medication that was prescribed privately, it may not show on your GP record, so please let us know.

If you have no symptoms, there is no need to stop your medication or contact the surgery.

If you do have concerns, we are happy to help. You can also report side effects via the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.

Thank you for your understanding and support πŸ’™

β˜• Dementia Coffee Morning

Our next dementia coffee morning will be held on Tuesday 3 February, from 10am to 12pm.

This is a relaxed, informal space for people living with dementia and their carers to come along, have a cuppa, chat, and get some support. No agenda, no pressure, just a chance to connect with others who understand.

Everyone is welcome. We hope to see you there.

Did you know that missed GP appointments really do make a difference?

In December alone, 87 appointments were not attended. That adds up to 21.75 hours of doctor and nurse time that could have been used to see other patients.

If you have an appointment booked and can’t attend, please let us know as soon as possible. Cancelling in advance allows us to offer that slot to someone else who needs care.

Thank you for helping us make the best use of NHS appointments and supporting your local surgery πŸ’™
