Yvonne, our Cancer & Palliative Care Lead Nurse for Bedford, shares her message for :

“My ask to you today is to please make a point of seeing your GP if you notice unusual, ongoing, or unexplained symptoms. It might not be cancer, but it is always best to know for sure.

“I know how important early cancer diagnosis is for improving survival rates and treatment outcomes. A cancer diagnosis can affect people physically, emotionally, practically, financially and spiritually, and in Primrose Unit we take a holistic approach for personalised support and care.

“Our patients have an allocated Clinical Nurse Specialist as their point of contact, who specialises in that particular type of cancer. As well as your care, they will direct referrals to other teams such as Macmillan’s Psychology and Welfare Rights Services, and the Trust’s Dietetic Oncology service.”
