Enjoyed yesterday's recap into tongue tie and infant feeding.

My favourite quote from a midwife and tongue tie practitioner who was speaking "all babies with a suspicion of tongue tie should receive skilled support for feeding and be assessed for the need for body work".

There's always a way to help, ideally this should include a detailed history, assessment of a full feed, musculoskeletal assessment of the baby including (but not limited to) the tongue, mouth and jaw functional anatomy, assessment of milk transfer and knowing when to refer out to more specialist care.

Just some of the pumps available in our library. We have several pumps including electric and manual ones and a steriliser for loan. The library is looked after by Village Chiropractic Clinic. If you're interested do get in touch and we'd be happy to help.

Hope you've all had a fab summer!
Looking forward to getting back to baby groups and feeding support sessions in September.
In clinic we have lots of resources including a pump library, a team of peer supporters, our incredible breastfeeding group and being able to utilise my own skill sets as an IBCLC.
We're here for you throughout your feeding journey!

💜 “I’m worried I don’t have enough milk because… I can’t pump much.”

It’s a common worry, but pumping output isn’t always a true reflection of your milk supply. Why?

👉 A breast pump is often less effective than a baby at removing milk
👉 Fit matters! An ill-fitting pump can impact how much you collect
👉 Relaxation helps, looking at baby photos or holding their clothes while pumping can encourage let-down

💡 The amount you pump doesn’t necessarily mean you aren’t producing enough.

Your baby’s weight gain, feeding behaviour and nappy output are much better indicators.
