💙✨ What an Amazing Day at Limewood! ✨💙

On Thursday 25th September, we came together for a truly special fundraising day and what a success it was! 🎉

The day was packed with fun: a tombola, raffle, craft stall, handmade bead pens lovingly created by the residents, a sweet stall and a coffee & cake sale. The residents were so proud to contribute their creations, knowing they were helping such a wonderful cause. 💕

A huge thank you goes to:

🙌 Sam Baddeley for your incredible £100 donation and for cutting Claire’s ponytail.
🙌 Deb Rutter for doing the big shave.
🙌 Our amazing volunteers - Sandra, Megan and Zara - for your time and support.

We’re counting down the days until Thursday 25th September, when our amazing manager Claire will bravely shave her head here at Limewood to raise funds for Make-A-Wish UK 💙

This special event is more than just a fundraiser – it’s a celebration of kindness, community, and making dreams come true for children with critical illnesses.

☀️🎉 Summer Fete Fun at Limewood! 🎉☀️

Last week was a busy one as we prepared for our Summer Fete, which took place on Saturday 6th September. What a fantastic day it turned out to be! 🌸

There was something for everyone to enjoy, from our craft and sweet stalls to delicious homemade treats like shortbread, lemon cake, cupcakes and hot dogs. 🍰🌭 Drinks flowed from our tropical tiki bar, with apple punch, orange punch, shandy, gin and lemonade all going down a treat. 🍹

Games brought plenty of laughter with hook-a-duck, beach ball knockout, lucky dip and ball in the bucket – plus face painting and even a visit from Minnie Mouse! 🐭✨

A highlight of the day was the wonderful Farm on Wheels, where residents and visitors got to meet Racket the donkey, Honey and Sprinkles the nanny goats, bunnies, guinea pigs and even a cheeky rat – all of which were loved by everyone. 🐐🐇🐾

It was such a joyful day of fun, community, and togetherness. 💛

It’s nearly time for our amazing manager, Claire Wilson, to bravely shave her head in support of Make-A-Wish UK on 25th September. 🌟

Claire has been truly inspired by the stories of critically ill children and is determined to raise as much as possible to help grant life-changing wishes. Every donation brings us one step closer to making magical memories for children and their families. 💛

🎉✨ Celebrations at Limewood! ✨🎉

This week we enjoyed a very special milestone as Limewood turned 11 years old! 🥳 Residents and staff gathered to share a beautiful birthday cake, with our resident Peter honoured to cut the very first slice. Cupcakes were also gifted to our wonderful staff as a thank you for all that they do 💛.

Alongside the celebrations, we’ve been busy with lots of lovely activities. Our cinema afternoon featured the classic Mrs Doubtfire, while pampering was on the agenda with relaxing nail sessions and visits to our hair salon. 💅✂️

We also enjoyed a heartwarming church service in our cinema space, filling the room with uplifting hymns and ending with a moving rendition of Amazing Grace.

To top it all off, our sweet table full of juicy sweet bags and homemade shortbread has gone down a treat – thank you to everyone for your kind comments! 🍪🍬

We’re finishing the week with a hearty staff breakfast and, of course, our much-loved prize bingo. A wonderful week of celebration, care and togetherness at Limewood! 💐

✨ This week at Limewood ✨

It’s been another busy and joyful week! 🎉

Residents have been busy wrapping gifts and decorating more of our beautiful pens – they’ve been so popular that they’re selling as quickly as we can make them! 💐✒️

We also enjoyed a pamper in the salon with Sara, who always makes us feel our best – such a lovely treat. 💇‍♀️💅

Movie time brought plenty of smiles with Mary Poppins and Mrs Doubtfire on the big screen, both firm favourites among residents. 🎬🍿

And we’re already looking forward to next week as we celebrate Limewood’s 11th anniversary on Tuesday with some delicious treats to enjoy together. 🥳🎂

🎶 A Week of Joy at Limewood! 🎶

This week has been full of wonderful moments here at Limewood. Residents enjoyed relaxing hand and nail massages and showed off their creativity by making more of our beautiful bead pens. Our much-loved Karaoke in the Fox & Duck had everyone singing along to favourite tunes and we’re still selling raffle tickets as we prepare for our Summer Fete on Saturday 23rd August 🎉, with stalls, a Minnie Mouse mascot at 11am and a visit from The Farm on Wheels at 2:30pm. Everyone is welcome!

A special highlight was a visit from a staff member with her gorgeous new baby, Freddie 👶 He was such a treat to meet and was absolutely adored by all.

We also travelled the world with Armchair Travel to Nigeria, led by our lovely Funmi, who cooked a delicious feast including puff puff, plantain, chicken skewers, coconut rice and the most beautiful red velvet cake! We learned about Nigerian culture, music and traditional dress, making it a truly memorable day.

💛 We can’t wait to share more special moments like these.

🎬🐾 Another week full of smiles at Limewood!

We started with a heartwarming cinema morning watching Billy Elliot, which was enjoyed by all. Our creative streak continued as we made more beautiful bead pens, wrote our own sayings on wooden key rings and helped package them up - along with wrapping prizes ready for our upcoming Summer Fete.

Max, our much-loved Therapy Dog, popped in for another meaningful visit and was spoiled with plenty of biscuits 🐶💛. We also had a lively afternoon of pub quiz fun and we think it’s fair to say the gentlemen might have just outshone the ladies this time with their answers! 😉

The week ended on a reflective and relaxing note with some scrapbooking, reminiscing over happy memories and laughter shared, followed by a pamper session in the bar while enjoying hair appointments in our salon.

What a fantastic week we’ve had! We kicked things off with our monthly Dementia Café. It's a lovely chance for families, friends and members of the community to come together over coffee and conversation in a relaxed and welcoming space.

We had plenty of fun in the Fox and Duck with an afternoon of karaoke, singing along to some of our favourite tunes both new and nostalgic. Our pub quiz brought lots of laughs and brain-teasing questions and we also enjoyed a pamper session in our beautiful salon, always a lovely way to unwind.

To finish the week, we took a magical armchair trip to Disneyland! With Cinderella and Snow White joining us for the afternoon, we enjoyed a virtual tour, classic Disney songs and some delicious themed treats – churros with chocolate dip, chocolate pretzels, mini doughnuts, fluffy marshmallows and a refreshing citrus mocktail.

🎤🎨🐾 Recently at Limewood… 🐾🎨🎤

We’ve had another wonderful week full of laughter, creativity and connection 💛

Max, our beautiful therapy dog, joined us once again, bringing his usual dose of joy and comfort to everyone 🐶✨

Our craft tables have been buzzing as we made colourful bead pens ready for our Summer Fete and carefully wrapped prizes for the lucky dip, all chosen and packaged with care by the residents.

We tested our knowledge at our weekly pub quiz, with a glass of wine in hand 🍷 and plenty of fun shared. The Cinema was alive with singing as we held a brilliant karaoke session – so many favourite songs and special requests filled the room 🎶

To wind down, we enjoyed a relaxing hand and nail massage session and spent a peaceful morning scrapbooking, reflecting on special moments we've shared here at Limewood 🥰

🎭 Recently at Limewood 🎭

It’s been another eventful week filled with music, laughter and feel-good moments!

We kicked things off in the cinema with the fabulous musical Dreamgirls, followed by checking in on our herbs and seeds and they're coming along beautifully 🌱

Max, our much-loved therapy dog, paid another welcome visit, spreading joy and comfort as always 🐾

We also enjoyed our weekly pub quiz in the Fox & Duck, accompanied by a refreshing bucks fizz, always a crowd-pleaser 🍊🥂

A real highlight was welcoming the Northeast Producers for their brilliant panto Mother Knows Best 🎶 It had us all laughing, singing along to old favourites like “Baked a Cake” and “How Do You Like Your Eggs in the Morning” — such a lovely trip down memory lane.

We rounded off the week with our ever-popular bingo and some wonderful prizes 🎁

✨ Save the date: Our Summer Fête is coming up on Saturday 23rd August from 11am — everyone is welcome and we can’t wait to celebrate with you!
