A touch of colour at Limewood 🌸

Residents have been enjoying another lovely flower arranging session, this time using fresh, real flowers.

With a beautiful selection of blooms, there were lots of familiar names being remembered, alongside vibrant colours and wonderful scents filling the room. It was a truly sensory and creative activity that everyone enjoyed.

We love taking pride in our living spaces at Limewood, and it’s always special to see residents adding their own personal touch through creativity.

A lovely way to brighten the home and lift spirits.

A fantastic week at Limewood ☘️🎶

We’ve had a wonderful week here at Limewood, celebrating St Patrick’s Day in style!

Residents enjoyed a lively karaoke session in the Fox and Duck, singing along to some great Irish folk songs with a Guinness in hand. There were also plenty of St Patrick’s themed quizzes and fun facts, bringing lots of laughter and friendly competition.

The celebrations continued with a special visit from our guest singer, Michael, who had everyone up on their feet dancing the afternoon away. With fantastic music, great company and a brilliant atmosphere, it was truly an afternoon to remember.

A week full of smiles, singing and celebration! 💚

Another fantastic fitness session at Limewood this week, led by Dee.

Residents started Wednesday with a real feel-good factor as the session began with singing, dancing and gentle warm-ups to get everyone moving. As always, the room was full of smiles, energy and plenty of encouragement.

Everyone is really getting the hang of our fitness sessions now, with arm and leg stretches, ball passing and even a little bit of boxing to keep things fun and engaging. These activities are a great way to stay active, lift spirits and support both physical and mental wellbeing.

Well done to everyone who took part – a wonderful way to start the day! 💪

It was a lovely week at Limewood as we welcomed the children from St Patrick’s Primary School, who truly brightened everyone’s day.

The room was filled with joy as the children sang beautifully, bringing smiles – and even a few happy tears – to those listening. Music always has a special way of bringing people together, and hearing their voices created such a warm and uplifting atmosphere for everyone.

Our Musical Moments session this week also had a fun St Patrick’s Day theme. Residents enjoyed singing and dancing along to favourites including Alive, Alive-Oh, The Wild Rover and Danny Boy. Everyone took turns wearing the lucky Irish hat and making a wish, which brought plenty of laughter to the room.

A big thank you to the wonderful children for visiting us and making the morning so special. 🍀

Limewood in Bloom 🌸

There has been a wonderful splash of colour around Limewood this week as residents have been busy flower arranging and decorating our living areas.

With a beautiful mix of flowers, colours and creative touches, the rooms have been transformed into bright and uplifting spaces for everyone to enjoy. Residents carefully chose different blooms and arranged them together, bringing their own style and personality to each display.

It has been lovely to see the living areas come to life with colour, creating a warm and positive atmosphere throughout the home.

A big well done to everyone who took part in making Limewood truly in bloom. 🌷🌼🌺

We have been getting creative by making our own terrariums and they have provided lots of fun and inspiration. Using a variety of resources including moss, little houses, wildlife figures, mushrooms, flowers, lamp posts and benches, everyone has been able to design and build their own miniature gardens.

The wonderful thing about these terrariums is that they can be kept and changed whenever we wish, adding new details and making them our own.

It has been a lovely project to work on while the weather has kept us indoors, giving us a little taste of gardening and the outdoors until we can spend more time in the garden again when the warmer weather arrives. 🌱

We recently received a wonderful donation of sensory quilts from a very kind and thoughtful local group and we are so grateful for their generosity.

The quilts are beautifully made with so many colourful and detailed features to explore. They provide a lovely sensory experience, helping to support fine motor skills while also offering visual stimulation and comfort. Residents have really enjoyed spending time looking at and feeling the different textures and patterns.

A big thank you to the group for such a thoughtful gift.

Recently at Limewood, we held a lovely church meeting where everyone came together for a warm and uplifting time of reflection. The service focused on the theme of helping others and created a calm and thoughtful atmosphere for everyone involved.

We sang some well-known hymns that many people enjoyed joining in with, making it a peaceful and meaningful gathering that brought a real sense of comfort and togetherness.

It’s been a wonderful time of celebrations here at Limewood, filled with music, laughter and moments of togetherness.

We began our recent celebrations by marking Valentine’s Day, sharing a lovely afternoon filled with warmth and music. Everyone enjoyed a beautiful violin performance from Elizabeth, which created a truly touching atmosphere as people sang and hummed along. Red roses were shared with everyone, helping to spread kindness, smiles and a real sense of togetherness across the home.

Pancake Day brought plenty of fun too, with lots of laughter as pancakes were tossed (with a few landing in unexpected places!) while everyone chatted about their favourite toppings and secret pancake recipes. Our fantastic kitchen team then prepared fresh pancakes for everyone to enjoy.

We also celebrated Chinese New Year, welcoming the Year of the Horse by sharing greetings of Kung Hei Fat Choi. Residents took part in the ever-popular chopstick challenge, sampling noodles alongside prawn crackers and fortune cookies, while watching colourful celebrations on television and admiring the vibrant costumes and traditions.

We had the wonderful honour of celebrating a very special milestone. a lovely lady’s 100th birthday! The room was beautifully decorated as everyone gathered together to wish her a very happy birthday and share in this truly magical occasion.

A highlight of the day was the arrival of her special birthday card from His Majesty The King, which made the celebration even more memorable. Alongside this, she received beautiful flowers, chocolates, thoughtful gifts and heartfelt cards from loved ones, creating a day filled with joy, smiles and treasured moments for everyone involved. 🎉💐

It’s been a wonderful week filled with the joy of music. Residents enjoyed another fantastic session with Anna from Musical Moments, singing along to much-loved classics such as Can’t Help Falling in Love and Love Me Do. There were plenty of smiles, laughter and even some fun posing in hats during Get Me to the Church on Time, making the afternoon truly memorable for everyone involved.

We were also delighted to receive MP3 players from the Purple Hearts Project, highlighting the importance of music therapy. Five residents were each gifted their own MP3 player with personalised playlists tailored especially for them. Music continues to play such an important role at Limewood - whether it’s for relaxation, reminiscing, or simply enjoying a sing-along together - bringing comfort, connection and happiness every day.

Prize Bingo is always a firm favourite! With a trolley full of exciting prizes, there is truly something for everyone to enjoy. The sessions are filled with laughter, friendly competition and plenty of concentration as everyone keeps a close eye on their cards.

Activities like these bring people together, creating a lively, social atmosphere while also supporting focus and engagement and of course, there’s always a little extra excitement when it’s time to call “Bingo!”
