👻 Staffordshire Ghost Stories…

Did you know our county is full of haunted places and strange sightings? Staffordshire has centuries of history… and some people believe not everyone ever left…

🏰 Tutbury Castle
People say the ghost of Mary Queen of Scots still walks the ruins where she was imprisoned in the 1500s. Visitors have reported seeing a tall woman in white and hearing footsteps echoing through empty corridors.

🌲 Cannock Chase – The Black Dog
In the woods of Cannock Chase, witnesses have reported seeing a huge dark dog with glowing eyes running silently through the trees. When people try to follow it… it disappears.

🕯 Shugborough Hall – The Grey Lady
Staff and visitors have reported seeing a mysterious Grey Lady walking through locked rooms and long corridors. When approached, she vanishes into thin air.

🌳 The Chained Oak – Alton
Near Alton Towers stands a famous tree wrapped in chains. Legend says if the chains ever fall off, a member of the Earl of Shrewsbury’s family will die. The story began after a mysterious old woman placed a curse on the family.

🏚 The Old Bell Inn – Burton upon Trent
One of the oldest pubs in the area is said to be haunted by several spirits. Staff have reported glasses moving on their own, doors slamming, and shadowy figures walking through empty rooms.

⛏ The Ghosts of the Potteries – Stoke-on-Trent
Workers in old pottery factories once claimed they heard footsteps and voices late at night when the buildings were empty. Some believe the spirits of Victorian workers still linger around the old kilns.

✨ Staffordshire is full of history… so maybe it’s not surprising that some stories refuse to disappear.
