This week was a masterclass in holding two things at once: HEARTBREAK AND AMBITION.
While my heart was heavy with the loss of Sandy, I was standing poolside at the Easter Meet. Life doesn’t pause for your grief, and honestly? Watching my boys, I didn't want it to.
THE BRUTAL REALITY: My oldest took home 3 medals. My youngest fought for every second, smashing PBs in races he’d never even dared before, finishing a grueling 4th—just a breath away from the podium.
Grief comes in waves, and he was upset and crying in the car on the way there. It shows it’s okay to not be okay, even when pursuing success.
Looking back, Sandy was misdiagnosed. Please, push for answers if you feel dismissed by a vet; early symptoms can be missed because our pets hide pain.
But life moves forward. We joined this new club 2 months ago, and the difference is killing me. The growth is unstoppable when you're in the right place.
What I’ve carried back to the car this morning:
* TRUST THE SHIFT: Find the environment that pushes you.
* THE HARD FIGHT: There's beauty in the "almost," especially when you're already fighting through emotional waves. That's the fuel for the next win.
* CELEBRATING THE 14TH: We spent Sandy’s 14th birthday walking where she loved to run. It was the reset I needed.
Massive thanks to Hydrotherapy and Physio for their incredible support with Sandy's mobility. They never stopped giving advice, and I’m so grateful.
Support isn't just a "Well done." It’s the energy we exchange when things are messy. Huge thank you to everyone who supported my family during this time—you helped me keep my head above water.
Today started with a swim for Nelly.
Now, I’m back on the road.
I don't just treat pain; I understand the courage it takes to move through it.
