👏 I'll have run my very first half marathon

👏 I'll likely to have consumed as much food (meeeaaat!!!) as possible, based on previous long run experiences

🥂I'll have had my first alcoholic drink since 2nd January and likely be legless after a sniff 😅

Not quite what I had in mind...

Didn't manage the 5x 1km paced runs.

I did achieve 4/5.

I listened to my body and that was enough today, especially after losing my voice this week (my body's sign that I'm a tad done in).

BUT

Also owning it 🤦‍♀️

After a terrible night's sleep caused by poor nutritional choices, my training suffered.

Acknowledging my f@ up and learning from it

That's how we progress

Make mistakes, big and small, learn, move forward.

I've already corrected my nutrition today and plan on getting a much needed early night.

Still patting myself on the back though for getting 4/5kms

But also taking on board how my bad choices have impacted me today.

Every day is a school day, always learning to do.

Not every Monday is a full on training day

Today was more about massage clients, rehab, injury prevention, helping clients achieve their goals.

Also the school runs & clubs

Some days are for training.

Some days you support others.

Both matter.

This week didn’t go to plan… but the long run still happened

Runs moved.

Schedules changed.

Hospital appointment.

Busy work days.

But the long run still happened.

Not perfect.

Still progress.

That’s what consistency really looks like

Yesterday didn't go to plan... so today I ran

Yesterday’s run got postponed.

Hospital appointments with my daughter came first.

So today I ran instead.

Consistency isn’t perfect schedules.

It’s adjusting and still showing up.

Plus, I managed to catch up with a friend over lunch.

Today was meant to be a run day.

Instead it’s hospital appointments and keeping my girl company.

And that’s okay.

Some days your priority is training.

Some days it’s being present.

Fitness should support life — not compete with it.

Run postponed to tomorrow.

But work was full.

After school appointment to be gotten to.

Life needed me elsewhere.

So I moved the run to tomorrow.

That’s not inconsistency.

That’s adaptability.

Structure matters.

Pause.

Look at your life.

They’re exhausted, stretched and trying to do everything well.

That’s why I believe in:
short sessions
simple structure
no pressure

and small wins that add up

You don’t need more willpower.

You need something that fits your reality.

Then straight into my long run.

Not at 5am.

Not in perfect silence.

Just in the window I had.

I’m training for the London Landmarks Half marathon — but I’m also a working mum fitting it all in.

You don’t need perfect timing.

You need commitment in the gaps.
