❤️ ADHD Love ❤️

6 things that commonly show up in love for those with ADHD

1. Intense, fast attachment (hyperfocus on a person)
When someone with ADHD falls in love, they may experience relationship hyperfocus. This can involve thinking about the person constantly, texting often, planning future dates quickly, and feeling emotionally “all in.”

2. Big emotional expression
Love can feel amplified. Excitement, longing, jealousy, joy, or hurt may be experienced more intensely due to emotional dysregulation.

3. Acts of enthusiasm over consistency
They may show love through bursts of grand gestures, deep conversations, or spontaneous adventures. This can often feel romantic but intense. They may however struggle with routine acts of affection (like remembering important dates or texting/calling consistently).

4. Craving stimulation in connection
Novelty fuels dopamine. Playfulness, deep talks at 2 a.m., new experiences, or shared passions can feel especially bonding. They may crave this and sometimes miss the more predictable routine ways of connecting.

5. Fear of rejection (RSD)
Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria can make small shifts (a delayed text, a different tone) feel deeply personal, leading to anxiety or withdrawal.

6. Deep loyalty and protectiveness
When committed, many people with ADHD love fiercely. They may be highly empathic and emotionally attuned.

It’s Monday!!!
This day has so much potential to overwhelm an ADHD brain.

It’s not just “a new week.”

On Monday, your brain is suddenly asked to:
• Remember everything you didn’t finish last week
• Decide what matters most (like how?)
• Switch from rest mode to productivity mode with zero warm-up
• Hold a thousand “I should…” thoughts at the same time

No wonder it feels heavy before it even starts. And no wonder you can end up in paralysis.

For an ADHD brain, Mondays aren’t hard because you’re lazy or unmotivated.
They’re hard because context-switching, prioritizing, and task initiation are all happening simultaneously — and those are some of the most energy-expensive things we do.

If Monday feels slow or emotionally loud, I just want to to know…

• You’re not broken
• You don’t need a better personality
• You might just need a gentler start and warm up

Less “new week, new me.”
More “same me, one small step.”

And yes — that absolutely counts as progress. 💛

"Why do you need a label?"

Because there is a comfort in knowing you are a normal zebra, not a strange horse. 🦓

Because you can't find community with other zebras if you don't know you belong.

And because it is impossible for a zebra to be happy or healthy spending its life feeling like a failed horse.

Does this sound familiar?
‘You can’t have ADHD, you’re not hyperactive’
‘Everyone fidgets’
‘Everyone is a bit ADHD’

But it is so much more than what people see (or think the should see’ on the surface….
Yes everyone can struggle with some of the symptoms at certain times in their lives and to different levels of severity. But for people with ADHD, they struggle with most of these things on a daily basis, often silently and beneath the surface. The key is also in the impact that these struggles have on the persons life, and also how hard they have to work ‘behind the scenes’ to mask those struggles.

Love languages can sometimes look a little different when someone is neurodivergent. 🥰

Due to differing dopamine levels and dysregulation, love or affection could seem a little inconsistent.

But don’t worry, there will be signs that they love you 💕- it just may not look as ‘traditional’ or be as routine driven as the neurotypical expressions of love.

Here are some of the ways in which love can be shown and how you can show that you love them back.

Therapy for ADHD?? How does that work??
See below for a few examples of how therapy can help those with either diagnosed or suspected ADHD.
Note: The formal diagnosis of ADHD is not necessary in order to start implementing better ways of coping and increasing your understanding of how to support a potentially neurodivergent brain.
