Whether we're measuring ROM or checking to see limb asymmetry, by utilising ActivForce 2 within our practice we increase the accuracy of our objective assessments.

The ActivForce 2 ensures more accurate ROM and strength measurements, which in turn helps improve our clinical decision making.

📐 After all, If you're not measuring, you're guessing! 📐

🚨 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗦𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗛𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝗶𝗻? 🚨

⚠️ Plantar Fasciitis is the most common cause of inferior heel pain.
⚠️ Plantar Fasciitis accounts for approximately 11%-15% of all foot symptoms in adults (Rasenburg et al. 2018).
⚠️ According to Beeson (2014), Plantar Fasciitis also accounts for 8% of all running injuries too.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐬?
💠 Sharp pain at the bottom of the foot or near the heel.
💠 Pain and extreme stiffness of first steps in the morning.
💠 Pain gets worse after prolonged walking.
💠 Pain when touching the Plantar Fascia.

🚩 𝐒𝐨, 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐭? 🚩
💠 Prolonged time spent standing.
💠 Increase in body mass.
💠 A sudden increase in intensity/volume of exercise.
💠 Running on hard surfaces such as pavements.
💠 Tight posterior muscles (Gastrocnemius).

🛠 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭?🛠
Corticosteroid injections are the most common treatment option for Plantar Fasciitis, yet the consensus on the lasting effects of reducing painful symptoms is limited to three months. (Yucel et al., 2013).

The alternative is a conservative approach: Massage, Stretching, Taping etc. However, one key aspect has been highlighted by Riel et al. (2018), who suggests the Plantar Fascia responds favourably to a loading program.

So, if you suspect you are suffering with Plantar Fasciitis get in touch and kickstart your recovery!

We offer Kinesiology Taping with no extra cost within our appointments!

👍🏻 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐓𝐚𝐩𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫? 👍🏻
💠 Reducing Swelling/Oedema
💠 Reducing Pain
💠 Improving Range of Movement
💠 Improving Proprioceptive Capability

🔬 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐭? 🔬
A few examples of the science behind Kinesiology Taping are as followed:
In a systematic review by Miller et al. (2017) one study included Kinesiology tape as an intervention. Eight out of the Nine participants that received Kinesiology tape as an intervention reported a reduction in oedema.
A systematic review and meta-analysis conducted by Montalvo et al. (2014) looked at the responses in pain levels following the application of kinesiology tape. Eight clinical trials involved in the systematic review observed a reduction in pain levels following the application of Kinesiology tape compared to baseline readings.
The Neuromuscular effects of Kinesiology Tape was observed in a study completed by Juchler et al. (2016). Within the study the participants were required run downhill twice, once with Kinesiology tape on the Peroneus Longus and again without any Kinesiology tape. When looking at the results they presented findings that Kinesiology tape does offer a neuromuscular effect.

𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭?
We utilise Kinesiology Tape within our practice as a complimentary measure. Meaning we use it to further progress and compliment what we have done in the treatment room, even after you’ve left.
