Grief is probably the most painful emotion we experience; it is very personal and can make us feel extremely lonely, powerless and emotionally exhausted. Most of us encounter grief in childhood with the loss of a pet or grandparent but for me, I was nineteen and, unbelievably, my mum’s sister and dad's mother died on the same day. We had two funerals in three days- one was a burial and the other a cremation. It was a baptism of fire and I didn’t know which parent to comfort.
How do you cope with either grieving yourself or supporting someone with a loss?
