I’m just tired can also mean…

💭 I’m overwhelmed
💭 I’m mentally drained
💭 I’m struggling but don’t know how to say it

It’s not always easy to talk about how we feel and sometimes “tired” is the only word that comes out.

If this sounds like you, please know you’re not alone. We're here to listen, and to help.

Take a break from scrolling and ground yourself in the present by searching any (or all!) or the following:

- Something you’d like to eat
- 13 pumpkins or gourds
- Things you’d find at school
- Something very spooky
- An “All Too Well” reference
- 10 pieces of candy corn
- An inverted little ghost
- Something warm to wear
- 3 yellow pencils
- An item in your favorite color
- Something you rarely see
- 2 black cat silhouettes
- An item you’d use outdoors
- Something that flies
- A loud chirping insect
- An item that’s in your house
- Leaves (count them all!)

By looking for any of these, you’re using one of your five senses (sight!) to connect with the present moment. You can do this anywhere by looking around you for a specific color or shape — or come back here anytime and choose an another option from the list to guide yourself back to the present!

Never underestimate the importance of play. Unstructured playtime fosters creativity and independence. It's how kids process and make sense of all the things that they've experienced and learned about recently. It's how they learn to make friends and communicate with their peers.

Play is also important for developing important pre-writing and pre-reading skills like gross and fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, object manipulation skills, and visual perception skills.

It's so much more than "just playing".

Early Numeracy – Building a Love of Numbers

Why It Matters 🤎
Numeracy is more than “learning to count”—it’s about problem-solving, logical thinking, and seeing patterns in the world. A positive, playful relationship with numbers now sets the stage for confident learners later.

How It Develops 🤎
Early numeracy begins with simple concepts: sorting, matching, comparing sizes, and noticing shapes. Children progress to counting, number recognition, and eventually simple addition and subtraction through real-world experiences.

Play-Based Support Ideas 🤎

✨Counting in Daily Routines: Count stairs, fruits at snack time, or steps taken to the park.

✨Sorting & Matching: Sort laundry by color, toys by size, or natural treasures by type.

✨Cooking Together: Measuring cups, spoons, and pouring encourage number sense and capacity understanding.

✨Board Games with Dice: Develops counting, turn-taking, and early arithmetic.

Parent Tip 🤎

Avoid drilling numbers - make math meaningful. Everyday life is full of “math moments.”
Encourage curiosity: “Which cup is bigger?” or “How many leaves can we collect?”
