Tinnitus is the name for hearing noises that do not come from an outside source. It's not usually a sign of anything serious and may get better by itself.
Tinnitus can sound like:
👉 ringing
👉 buzzing
👉whooshing
👉 humming
👉 hissing
👉 throbbing
👉 music or singing
You may hear these sounds in 1 or both ears, or in your head. They may come and go, or you might hear them all the time.

Getting woken up in the middle of the night by your little one with a snotty cold isn’t fun, and worse when you don’t have supplies to help!

Think ahead - stock up with a winter first aid kit 🩹 Include items like a bottle of infant or children’s paracetamol (Calpol) or Ibuprofen, a thermometer and plasters so you’re ready at short notice.

We are aware of the disruption currently affecting Stalybridge as a result of utility works. Electricity North West are carrying out planned essential upgrades to the infrastructure in the town centre on Corporation Street, which requires a full road closure. This work is being completed ahead of the major town centre improvements starting on 2 February 2026.

In addition, a burst water main occurred this morning on Acres Lane, between Gerrard Street and Gordon Street, which has required an emergency road closure by United Utilities.

We are liaising closely with both utility providers to ensure that these works are completed as quickly and efficiently as possible.

From October to March we can’t make enough vitamin D from sunlight. Government advice is that everyone should consider taking a daily vitamin D supplement during the autumn and winter to keep bones and muscles healthy.

You can get vitamin D from most pharmacies and retailers.
