⭐ Pilates Exercise of the Day ⭐

Side plank series: Our Pilates instructor Susie demonstrates 3 levels of the side plank. The easiest level starts with practising lifting the ribs, to then lifting the hips with the knees bent and finally lifting the knees with the knees straight. This exercise is great for working on shoulder stability and for strengthening the glutes and abdominals.

After having a baby, it’s so important to protect your body as you return to exercise. Guidelines recommend sticking to low-impact activity for the first 3 months postnatal, with higher-impact sports (like running, HIIT, CrossFit) only starting from 3–6 months, and ideally with guidance from a Women’s Health Physiotherapist.

We know many new mums feel let down by the brief 6-week GP check, often just 10 minutes with barely a mention of your pelvic floor or guidance on getting back to exercise.

At Physiofit Stamford, we offer a New Mum MOT. This is a one-hour, in-depth postnatal assessment with our experienced Women’s Health physiotherapist, Emily. This is your chance to talk through any concerns after birth, from aches and pains to pelvic floor symptoms, plans for future pregnancies, and how to safely return to exercise.
