Meet Emily 👋

After starting her career in Leeds, working as a rotational physiotherapist in the NHS, Emily joined our sister clinic Physiofit Leeds - Physiotherapy and Pilates in 2019. There, she combined her skills as a physiotherapist and Pilates instructor, helping to develop their popular reformer Pilates service.

In 2023, Emily, her husband and their daughter moved to Stamford to be closer to family. Together with Jenny Heron, Director of Physiofit Leeds, Emily opened Physiofit Stamford , where she now leads our Easton on the Hill clinic, offering both physiotherapy and Pilates. Shortly after opening Physiofit Stamford, she then welcomed her son.

When she’s not in the clinic (or keeping up with her two little ones!), you’ll find Emily on her Peloton bike, strength training in her garage gym, or enjoying a slice of homemade chocolate caramel shortbread, because everything in moderation, right? 🍫

⭐ Pilates Exercise of the Day ⭐

Side lying leg lift: Emily demonstrates 3 levels of this exercise to strengthen the gluteal muscles around the hip. Core stability can be challenged by straightening the bottom leg to narrow the base of support.

This exercise is effective for strengthening the gluteus medius muscle which stabilises the hip joint and pelvis, especially in walking and running. This muscle commonly weakens with hip arthritis and during pregnancy so using exercises like this to strengthen it can be beneficial.
