Fair result given the fact I spent most of 2025 injured and it was my first attempt at a Hyrox. Got the surgery I needed a few months ago and this is definitely an indication that I’m back on the right track. Hopefully I’ll get chance to have another go with a bit more preparation and see what I can do 🏃‍♂️💪

More importantly a massive thank you to everyone who supported my fundraiser. Amazing to nudge over £1000 for a charity very close to my heart 🙏

Thought it was time I posted an update on here. For anyone who doesn’t know, I decided to go back to university and study physiotherapy in 2020 after the onset of COVID. I graduated with first class honours and I’m now a chartered physiotherapist with experience in professional sport, the NHS and private practice. This has given me a great set of new skills that really compliments my background as a strength and conditioning coach. Whether you’re looking to build athleticism, get into better shape or rehabilitate from an illness/injury drop me a message and take the first step towards achieving your goals 🫡💪

Firstly I’d just like to send out my best wishes to everyone. I hope you and your families are all safe and well!

These are tough times, which is why it’s so important to stay active and maintain a positive outlook. Here’s some advice on how to stay active and keep in shape at home when you’re training with limited equipment. Hope you find it useful and if anyone has any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch I’m here to help!

1. Get close to failure on each set: yes this will hurt but even very high reps can effectively grow muscle when taken to failure.

2. Rest less: the more you rest the more reps it takes to get to failure. The harder reps at the end of a set stimulate more muscle growth so making reps harder earlier is beneficial.

3. Do more sets: if you’re not getting sore because the weights are lighter add in extra sets

4. Train more often: due to the lighter weight there’s less stress on your faster twitch fibres, joints and connective tissue so you’re likely to recover faster allowing you to train more often.

5. Get progressive overload via reps not sets: if you’ve only got access to one set of weights you can’t add weight but you can add volume over the weeks.

6. Use small variations to create a different stimulus: with limited kit this is hard but not impossible. Varying grips and stance width, adding in pauses and slowing down the eccentric portion can all help.

7. Save time with antagonistic muscle group supersets: antagonist muscle groups are those that move the body in different directions. One muscle group works while the other rests allowing shorter rest periods that creates efficient and effective work.

8. Get outside with a family member: go running and on bike rides where possible or even just for a walk. Get out of the house, clear your head and make memories with your loved ones!

Completed the load bearing Fan Dance High Moon last Saturday night. The guy who convinced me to sign up for it (won’t name names Tom Stanton) pulled out injured last minute so Kate Barton stepped up on 3-4 weeks notice to do it with me. Without any prior training she had to dig deep at times but not only did she complete the course she also managed it in a respectable time ... not bad for someone who trains exclusively for strength and power these days. I couldn’t be more proud of her!! 💙

18.6km and 872m of elevation gain in the Brecon Beacons, 2 ascents of Pen Y Fan (1 from each side), carrying 20kg of extra weight in the bergen, OVERNIGHT on the 4th Jan.... no wonder the special forces use this to test recruits during selection!

Pleased to say the dogs made it round too so all 4 of us received our finishers patches from ex SAS DS Ken Jones on arrival at the finish in the Storey Arms 💪🐾🐾💪

Set yourself goals this year rather than making resolutions! Dream big, write them down, formulate a plan, commit to making it happen and finally make yourself accountable! 💯

All goals should be wrapped up in your values and purpose! They can be as large as you can imagine. However, the focus should be on the smaller, more manageable and clearer goals that eventually lead to achieving the big ones. Embrace the daily grind and take pride in the daily wins that will have you taking steps towards the bigger goals on a daily basis!

After reading a great article on goal setting recently I wanted to share some of the key points... hope you find it useful! Wishing everyone a Happy New Year and all the best for 2020! 💫

Tough day competing at the ADCC British Open. Won 3 matches enroute to the final but unfortunately came up short and had to settle for silver. Massive thanks to Mohammed and Del for the last minute cornering along with my teammates for the tough sparring in the run up! Last but definitely not least big thank you to Kate for her support 💙

Best of luck to Tom Stanton who’s flying out to the Himalayas in the next couple of days. He’s off to tackle Ama Dablam, which is one of the world’s highest peaks at almost 7,000m. It’s been an absolute pleasure helping to get you ready for it mate! Massive respect go smash it 👊🏔💯
