Cool new study (randomised controlled trial) on electro acupuncture for the treatment of chronic neck pain. Trial demonstrated that acupuncture really helps with significant pain relief persisting upto five weeks. In clinic settings patients benefit greatly from acupuncture treatment for chronic neck pain that go beyond the three months follow up end point here. Nice memory of our training in China post graduating with a BSc Hons in Chinese Medical Acupuncture at the Univeristy of Lincoln 2005. We were at Guangdong Province Second Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine Affiliated with Guangzhou University in 2008. This photo also got me thinking about terms we have become familiar with or boxed into over time: Complementary Medicine, Traditional, Western and Eastern Medicine, Integrated Healthcare, Amalgamated, etc. When really, in the UK, a good way of looking at it is as Diversified Healthcare. Diversified healthcare options. Just a thought... 💕

We had some lovely messages last week coming through. It’s great to know patients are on cloud 9! We do love all the feedback we receive and to know you are so happy to have achieved milestones that were thought to not be reachable. For me as her acupuncturist I was grateful and pleased to provide our expertise and care for sisters! Several years ago I helped her sister fulfil her fertility, and helped her achieve her family hopes and now her younger sister who also unfortunately had experienced fertility issues. 💖

It is great to see the treatment management of Endometriosis being advocated for in the House of Commons. Mr Speaker! I have a few things I’d like to say about the treatment management of Endometriosis

Endometriosis UK link to the British Acupuncture Council, and its members. This is helpful as it raises awareness of the role of acupuncture as well as how to find an acupuncturist in the healthcare sector on an accredited register.

Research indicates that acupuncture can reduce pelvic and menstrual pain. In fact, the authors’ of this study conclude that acupuncture should be considered in the overall management of endometriosis.

Aquilia associate Sandra Bird BSc Hons, PGDip, MBAcC, RCHM took on an interesting complex case study this week. Whereby she will prescribe Chinese herbal medicine to help manage the localised and broad impact of the condition. At Aquilia we are research minded and look forward to reviewing other markers as part of a collective research process.

Cuddles are the best! Patient’s can think they owe their healthcare professionals the world for our care and expertise but they really don’t. To have an occupation as a specialist acupuncturist working independently to help people with fertility problems conceive naturally where possible or in an integrated healthcare system that supports the creation families is just the best thing. 20 years plus and I still really love my job and being sent photos like this 🤗🌸. “Thank you Lianne helping us conceive our beautiful baby girl. “Hello Lianne I’ve been meaning to message you - you did some acupuncture for me just under a year ago well our daughter appeared in February so thank you for giving us our little miracle xx”

I received this message the other day, with a beautiful photo. I had to go back to my patient file as it had been a while since I had contact with her and she also had a different surname (she had also got married!).

This patient had sadly suffered four miscarriages, had tests and investigations but didn’t have much of a plan and was feeling despair. She sought acupuncture. I diagnosed cold, spleen qi xu and kidney yang xu (common presentations found in recurrent miscarriage, and early pregnancy loss).

It’s fairly straightforward the treatment plan (although takes many years of specialist training to understand the health model):
Warm cold🥶 🥰
Strengthen the qi of the spleen 💪
Super boost other fertility “energies” such as kidney Yang 💫
Regulate emotions 😳😵‍💫🫣😫 so that she felt more like this 😊🥰🌸 and da da there is a mama!

Acupuncture is more than “blood flow to the ovaries.” 😉 Just saying…
