Did you know that having a stroke can double your risk of developing dementia? 💙

A stroke doesn’t just affect movement — it can also impact memory, thinking, and independence. What’s less often spoken about is just how closely linked a stroke and dementia really are.

Research shows that people who’ve experienced a stroke are around twice as likely to develop dementia, and up to one in three stroke survivors will notice some form of cognitive decline in the years that follow.
That’s because a stroke reduces blood flow to the brain, damaging the areas responsible for memory and reasoning — the same areas affected by vascular dementia.

This World Stroke Day, let’s raise awareness, support recovery, and continue building understanding — because awareness saves lives, and compassion changes them. 💙

Face – has their face fallen on one side?
Arms – can they raise both arms?
Speech – is their speech slurred?
Time – call 999 immediately.
