Thank you Patricia.

Massage from my husband who has MS

Just by chance we moved to the area late last year. My husband had to give up driving so we now use taxis a lot.
As he has to use a wheelchair this how we met Peter.
This particular day he could not turn his head and pain more severe than usual.
I happened to mention this to the wheelchair taxi driver. Who confirmed he was a Massage Therapist.
I decided to approach him and asked if he could come and see him. To date he has had two appointments.
Well the improvement is astounding .
He is now using his walker and his neck and legs are greatly improved.
Just wished we had met sooner he even went to town yesterday with the walker. I am so delighted at what the improvement in his life

Massage therapy is a valuable tool for stress reduction, promoting relaxation and well-being by lowering heart rate, reducing muscle tension, and stimulating the release of endorphins and serotonin, while inhibiting stress hormones.
Here's a more detailed look at the benefits of massage for stress:
How Massage Helps Reduce Stress:
Promotes Relaxation:
Massage sessions often take place in a calming environment, which helps the client relax, and the act of massage itself encourages a state of relaxation.
Reduces Muscle Tension:
Stress can cause muscles to tighten, leading to pain and discomfort. Massage helps to loosen these muscles, relieving tension and pain.
Lowers Heart Rate and Breathing Rate:
Massage can slow down heart rate and breathing, which are signs of relaxation and help calm the nervous system.
Stimulates the Release of Endorphins and Serotonin:
These neurotransmitters have mood-boosting effects, promoting feelings of happiness and well-being.
Decreases Cortisol Levels:
Massage can help reduce levels of cortisol, the body's primary stress hormone.
Improves Mood and Emotional Balance:
By reducing stress and promoting relaxation, massage can lead to improved mood and emotional well-being.
Interferes with Pain Signals:
Massage can interfere with pain signals, reducing the feeling of pain, which can be related to stress.
Addresses Posture Problems:
Stress can cause muscles to tighten, affecting posture. Massage can help relieve tightness, allowing for better posture and movement.
Provides a Sense of Relief and Empowerment:
Massage can create a sense of relief and empowerment, allowing individuals to focus on their mind-body connection.
Helps with Anxiety Management:
While stress is the body's reaction to a threat, anxiety is the body's reaction to stress. Massage can help manage anxiety by reducing stress levels.
Can be used as a preventative measure:
A pre-event massage can prepare the body for stress, mentally and physically.
Can be used to dissipate stress:
A massage after a busy week can help dissipate stress, helping to reduce muscle tension and return the mind to a neutral state.

Massage therapy, particularly deep tissue or trigger point massage, can be effective in relieving Sciatica pain by targeting tight muscles and improving circulation, potentially easing pressure on the sciatic nerve.
Here's a more detailed explanation:

How Massage Can Help with Sciatica:
Muscle Relaxation:
Sciatica pain often stems from tight muscles in the lower back, glutes, and legs that can compress the sciatic nerve. Massage helps relax these muscles, reducing pressure on the nerve and easing pain.
Improved Circulation:
Massage increases blood flow to the affected area, which can help reduce inflammation and promote healing.
Trigger Point Therapy:
This technique focuses on specific areas of muscle tension (trigger points) that can cause radiating pain, including sciatica. By applying pressure to these points, a therapist can help release muscle knots and alleviate pain.
Endorphin Release:
Massage can stimulate the release of endorphins, the body's natural painkillers, which can help reduce pain and improve mood.
Enhanced Mobility:
Regular massage can improve flexibility and range of motion, making it easier to move around and perform daily activities without pain.
Types of Massage for Sciatica:
Deep Tissue Massage:
This technique uses slow, deep strokes and pressure to target deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, which can be particularly helpful for chronic sciatica pain.
Swedish Massage:
This gentler technique uses flowing, kneading movements to relax muscles and stimulate nerve endings, promoting relaxation and reducing stress.
Trigger Point Therapy:
As mentioned above, this technique focuses on specific areas of muscle tension that can cause radiating pain.

IT'S VERY IMPORTANT FOR OUR BODY

Lymphatic drainage massage, or manual lymphatic drainage (MLD), is a gentle massage technique used to stimulate the flow of lymph fluid, which helps remove waste and toxins from the body, potentially reducing swelling and improving overall lymphatic function. Benefits:
Reduces swelling: By moving excess fluid, lymphatic drainage can help reduce swelling in various areas of the body, including the face, neck, upper arm, thigh, breast, trunk, or ge****ls.
Improves lymphatic function: It can stimulate the lymphatic system to work more efficiently, promoting the removal of waste and toxins.
May help with certain conditions: Lymphatic drainage massage may be particularly helpful for individuals with lymphoedema (a condition causing swelling) or other conditions affecting the lymphatic system.
Can improve circulation and boost the immune system: By moving fluid and waste products, lymphatic drainage can support overall health and well-being.
