70% of our immune cells are located in our guts so for a healthy strong immune function we need a healthy gut microbiome (the community of bacteria, fungi and virus that live in our gut).

Three simple tips to support your immune function over the Christmas period include:

1) Choose dark chocolate over milk chocolate (good quality dark chocolate is high in polyphenols, a type of antioxidant)
2) Include a glass of Kombucha in your festive drinks (fermented foods promote a healthier and more diverse gut microbiome which is good for long-term health)
3) Include a range of mixed nuts and seeds in your diet (they provide fibre, antioxidants and have anti inflammatory properties)

Make mornings stress-free and full of goodness with this nut and fruit porridge mix.

Mix up
porridge oats
pumpkin, sunflower, chia seeds, linseeds
pecan nuts, almonds, and walnuts (or any nuts of your choice)
dried cranberries (or apricots/raisins)
Store in an airtight container

You can serve it with warm milk as a porridge or add it to Greek yogurt for a tasty breakfast or snack. I love having it on these cold dark wintry mornings and always with a spoonful of peanut butter :)

Fabulous quick and simple breakfast full of fibre to keep you feeling full, food for your gut microbiome, protein for your muscles, and calcium for your bones
