🧶 Calling All Knitters! 🧶

Join us every Tuesday from 10:30am to 12:00pm at Tallington Lodge Care Home as we come together to knit poppies for the Royal British Leigion ahead of Remembrance Day on 11th November. ❤️🌺

Whether you’re a seasoned knitter or just starting out, everyone is welcome! It’s a wonderful opportunity to meet new people, share skills, and support a truly meaningful cause. If you do have your own knitting needles/ wool feel free to bring them along.

Let’s create something special together in honour of those who have served and sacrificed.

Refreshments will be avaliable.

🌟 Supporting Our Community & Keeping Loved Ones Safe 🌟

Our Senior Customer Relations Manager, Morgan Hicks, has recently received training from Lincolnshire Police / Stamford, Bourne and Deeping Police on how to register for a Dementia Wristband. 💜

These specially designed wristbands help keep loved ones safe in the community by providing essential information to support those living with dementia. They offer peace of mind and reassurance for families, carers, and individuals alike.

At Tallington Lodge Care Home, we are proud to work alongside local services to ensure our residents — and the wider community — are supported, safe, and cared for. 🏡✨

🚦🌎 Travel & Transport – Route 66 Comes to Life! 🚗✨

Our residents set off on a creative journey down the iconic Route 66 – with crafts, landmarks, and plenty of themed treats along the way!

🍦 Missouri – Frozen Custard
St. Louis made frozen custard famous in the 1930s, so our chef whipped up a classic recipe that everyone loved.

🐘 Illinois – The Pink Elephant
One of Route 66’s quirkiest photo stops – a giant pink elephant in Livingston!

🪶 Oklahoma – Totem Pole Park
Home to the world’s largest concrete totem pole, this colourful landmark is a Route 66 treasure.

🤠 Texas – Rodeo Spirit
No Texan road trip is complete without the cowboy energy of a rodeo.

🏹 Arizona – Twin Arrows Trading Post
Two huge painted arrows have marked this famous roadside stop since the 1940s.

👽 Detour to Roswell
We couldn’t resist an alien-themed coffee afternoon – complete with UFO cocktails, galaxy-space cakes, and alien-inspired doughnuts in our Route 66 Diner! Alongside the treats, we enjoyed a lively Route 66 quiz and a music session, where we shared songs and memories while talking about the landmarks on our journey. 🎶✨

🚘 Our cardboard car (with a real steering wheel kindly donated by ) made the virtual drive on our TV feel like the real thing.

🏙️ we also created a souvenir shop with postcards and stickers of the 8 states on the route66! After our road trip we decorated our suitcases, as a reminder of our lovely holiday!

🏍️ A truly special moment came when members of the Rutland Classic Motorbike Club visited to surprise a former member and resident with his previously owned AJS 500 beaut! Hearing the engine roar again was emotional and heartwarming – a beautiful wish come true and a memory to treasure. ❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who joined in and supported our themed coffee afternoon. It truly was a trip to remember! 🌟

Travel and transport month:
🚲✨ One Wheel Through Time! ✨🚲

We had a real treat today when Derek Rupert, a friend of our Head Gardener, brought in his unicycle to tell us all about its history.

The unicycle’s story goes back to the late 1800s, when riders of the big penny-farthing bicycles discovered they could balance on just the large front wheel. From circus acts to daring long-distance rides, the unicycle has rolled its way into transport history. 🌍

Our residents got creative — colouring in penny-farthings and unicycles, then turning their artwork into a wonderful banner! 🎨🚴‍♂️

A big thank you to Derek for sharing his passion and sparking such a fun, colourful journey through travel history.

As our In Bloom season comes to a close, we’re proud to reflect on all the hard work that’s gone into making it so special. But more than anything, we want to shine a light on one incredible person — our Head Gardener, David.

David was truly the heart and soul of this season. From the very beginning, his passion, drive, and unwavering dedication were clear for all to see. Every morning without fail, he’d show up at reception and ask, “What are the jobs for today?” — ready to roll up his sleeves and get stuck in, and he did everything. He painted, he polished, he cleaned — he even washed down all the tables and chairs for our beach party and helped prep for the games. His work ethic inspired everyone around him. Of course, the whole Tallington crew got involved too — pitching in where they could and supporting the vision, But it was David who truly stole the show. To celebrate all he’s done, here’s a visual presentation of David’s amazing work throughout the season — a true reflection of his dedication, creativity, and care.

He’s a kind, creative, and genuinely beautiful person, and we feel so lucky to have him leading the way. His enthusiasm is infectious, his ideas never stop flowing, and we love that he’s found a new passion in propagation. Here’s to David — and to everyone continuing to grow, create, and inspire in all the seasons still to come. 🌱

“We brought our beach party indoors — and still made waves.” 🌊🍦🍹🎶

Our garden games were under sunny skies ☀️, but we couldn’t predict the rain for our beach party! 🌧️ We took it indoors but that didn’t stop us from having the BEST time.

The beach theme stayed alive with cocktails, fish & chips, beach gear, and plenty of laughter. 😄🍹🌺 Huge thanks to Nick for keeping the energy sky-high, to everyone for their generous donations 💖, and big congratulations to our lucky raffle winners! 🎉

What a perfect, joy-filled way to wrap up another fantastic InBloom season! 🌸✨
