🔥 Delightfully warmed flatbread 🫓, topped with tangy pulled harissa 🌶️ lamb 🐑 , smooth homemade hummus 🍚 , grated carrot 🥕 , mint 🍃and parsley 🌿 slaw, plenty of pomegranate seeds, feta cheese 🧀 chunks and all slathered with garlic 🧄 and herb 🌿 sauce.
👌 A refreshing Sunday tastebud tickler, complex textures, lamb shreds, crunchy pomegranate seeds, subtle chilli 🌶️ hints, diffused by the minty 🍃parsley 🌿 slaw and all nicely smoothed out with the subtle garlicky 🧄 herb sauce…not to mention the most colourful 🎨 dish this year so far…❗️

After our usual pints 🍻 of Zero Ghost 👻 Ship 🚢 , we both opted for crispy breaded whitebait 🐟 to start. Mains were superb — battered rock 🪨 eel( 🐕 🐠) for Frank and grilled skate 🐠 wing with caper butter sauce for moi…both accompanied by the most chunkiest of crispy chips 🍟 and garden peas 🫛 , absolutely divine - both such plump cuts too…❗️

✅ Couldn’t skip dessert: Franks “norm” sticky toffee pudding & ice cream and for me the lemon 🍋 meringue with fresh cream, did not disappoint❗️

✅ We sorted the May ‘26 Gourmates
date over a couple of feisty Americano coffees ☕️, where will Frank pick next month…(FOLLOW Galloping Gourmates to find out❓)

👌 Great atmosphere, hearty pub grub portions, and really lovely service — well worth the trip out…!🚙

💃 “Madame You”🫵 has only been open for a couple of months but has proven itself very popular in that short space of time. Bearing in mind we visited on a Wednesday 📆 lunchtime the restaurant was full and turning people away❗️
🍻 We started as always with a zero percent beer, Asahi 🇯🇵 on this occasion. A very varied menu, plenty of fish dishes alongside traditional meat dishes which makes a change and some set menus.
🦀 Chris plumped for soft shell crab while I settled for the scallops. My scallops were almost melt in the mouth delicious while Chris had nothing but praise for his dish.😋
🐠 The main meal was interesting in that Chris was offered two cuts of Skate 🐠 to choose from, the wing or body. He went for the body as this was new to us both. It was a chunky piece of fish 🐠 which went well with the side of broccoli 🥦 . I had pan fried Halibut 🐟 with a side of stir fried 🫑🌶️🥦🍆vegetables.
It says a lot about the food that we ate in virtual silence🤫 . Talking would only interrupt our enjoyment of the dishes. 😋
🥮 Our desert was my own personal weakness, Sticky Toffee Pudding while Chris indulged a in a Mille Feuille which came with a brief tutorial from the waiter on how to pronounce it properly. 🇫🇷
☕️☕️ We finished with coffees and sat back well pleased with our meals.
⛔️ By this time the restaurant was full and buzzing 🐝.
🥸 The service was very good, staff friendly and knowledgeable (no extra charge for French 🇫🇷 lesson) and the food was excellent. 👌
☎️ Highly recommended but be sure to book in advance.✅

🥸 We Galloping Gourmates first sampled it almost a year ago now , in their early days, back in April 25…❗️
👌 I’ve been back a couple of times since too , 👌 and it’s still very authentic… 🇮🇹
