🚨 Our Emergency Department at University Hospital of North Durham is currently very busy with a high number of patients.

Please only attend if it’s a genuine emergency. ⚠️ For minor injuries or illnesses, expect longer waiting times.

🚗 Car Parking Update – Shotley Bridge Hospital

An Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system is now in place on roads with double yellow lines only at Shotley Bridge Hospital.

✅ Car parks are NOT affected and remain FREE to use.

This change helps keep access routes clear and ensures safe, fair parking for patients, visitors, and emergency vehicles 🚑

📅 The system went live on Monday 16 March – please check signage on site.

⚠️ Measles spreads easily and can make children very unwell.

Watch out for:
🤒 Fever
😮‍💨 Cough or runny nose
👀 Sore, red eyes
🔴 Rash (often starts on the face or behind the ears)

If you think your child has measles, keep them at home and call your GP or NHS 111.

💉 The MMRV vaccine is the best protection – make sure they’re up to date.
