Measles spreads very easily and can make children seriously unwell.

Watch for:
🤒 High fever
😮‍💨 Cough and runny nose
👀 Sore, red eyes
🔴 Blotchy rash (often starts on the face and behind the ears)

If you think it could be measles, keep your child at home and call your GP or NHS 111 ☎️

The MMRV vaccine offers the best protection – make sure they’re up to date 💉

🚨 Our Emergency Department at University Hospital of North Durham is currently extremely busy, with a high number of patients needing urgent care.

Please only attend if it is a genuine emergency. Patients with minor injuries or illnesses should expect a long wait. ⚠️

If you’re unsure where to go, contact NHS 111 online, via the NHS App or by calling 111. They can provide advice, direct you to the right service, and may be able to arrange an appointment so you’re seen sooner.
