🌟 Parenting made SIMPLE: E = Every Single Day 🌟

Over the past few weeks, we’ve explored simple, effective ways to help children and young people manage their anxiety - from identifying their thoughts to finding meaning, play and self-compassion. 💛

But here’s the real secret: these tools only work when we use them consistently. It’s not about doing them perfectly - it’s about practising them, gently and regularly, every single day.

Small steps. Simple actions. Repeated often.
That’s what helps calm grow and confidence bloom. 🌿

🌟 Parenting made SIMPLE 🌟

This week’s letter is L = Loving Kindness - also known as self-compassion. 💛

When life gets overwhelming, our instinct is often to criticise ourselves or push through - but research shows that practising self-compassion can actually help calm and regulate our nervous system.

Encouraging your child (and yourself!) to respond to difficult moments with kindness rather than judgement can make a huge difference in managing anxiety and building emotional resilience.

So this week, try a little Loving Kindness - it might just be the reset you both need. 🌿

🌟 Parenting made SIMPLE 🌟

This week’s letter is P = Play 🎈

Play might sound like an unimportant luxury - but it’s actually essential for a child’s emotional and social development.

In today’s busy, overwhelming world, small moments of play can reconnect your child with joy, creativity and calm. Whether it’s a game, a walk or just being silly together - start playing and see how it changes the mood in your home. 💛

This week we’re on the third step in my acronym to help children and young people cope with anxiety: M = Meaning Now.

Your child may never love school - and that’s okay. What matters is helping them find moments of meaning in their daily life, whether that’s through friendships, hobbies or living by their values.

It won’t make anxiety vanish overnight, but it gives young people a stronger foundation to face life’s challenges.

💬 How does your child find meaning outside of school?

💭 Coping with anxiety doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, it can be really SIMPLE.

This is the first in a new series where I’ll be sharing the SIMPLE steps parents and young people can use to ease back-to-school anxiety.

Small habits - like a few minutes of deep breathing in the morning or winding down with a grounding activity in the evening - can make a huge difference over time.

✨ “My child’s nervous about therapy - how can I persuade them?”

The good news is: you don’t have to. I often suggest parents introduce me as a coach or a personal tutor for wellbeing.

In fact, I’m known as the therapist for children who don’t get on with therapists! 💛

We can start with one session - if it’s a good fit, brilliant. If not, no pressure. And with no waiting list, we can get started right away.

If you can be anything in this world, be you!

Be proud to be your badass self.

Stop looking to labels, names, numbers or diagnoses to give you self worth, a reason to stand out or a goddamn seat at the table.

The fact that you are here and that you are you is more than enough.

So stand tall, do things regularly that make you feel giddy with excitement and measure your worth by who you were yesterday, NOT by who anyone else is today.

Our Story

My name’s Cat and I’m a Bristol based Personal Trainer and Happiness Coach with a twist.

The twist is that I don’t believe anyone needs a Personal Trainer to improve their fitness or a Happiness Coach to make them, well, happier…oh, and I hate the gym too!

I do, however, recognise from my background as an Occupational Therapist in mental health that sometimes we need a tiny little nudge to get us on the route to where we want to be in life.

Nudge was dreamt up as an antidote to the fact that, without meaning, motivation or fun, life can be at best slightly dull and at worst downright terrifying. Yes, I too was that person who worked hard all my life, did as I was told, judged myself by conventional standards of success and beauty and stayed firmly within my comfort zone. Why? Because I genuinely didn’t believe I had the ability to do otherwise. Then, one sweet day, bolstered by blind faith and surrounded by good people, I decided to take control of my own destiny and leap down the rabbit hole – and boy was I glad I did.
