🏥On Wednesday evening we attended a Nursing and Allied Health Professionals (AHP) careers event at Airedale, welcoming young people, parents and careers advisors from local schools and colleges.

Our team hosted a stand, chatting about the new hospital and the opportunities it will bring, including evolving roles, more digital ways of working and the health and wellbeing facilities that are part of the New Hospital Programme’s design template.

They had some great conversations with students and people interested in working in nursing and Allied Health Professional roles at Airedale.

It was fantastic to see so much interest from our local community and enthusiasm for the future workforce and of course, to share the exciting opportunities ahead with the new hospital.🏥

🏥As healthcare moves into a more modern era, hospitals across the country are being redesigned to better support patients, staff and communities.

Like the many new hospitals being built across the UK, our new hospital will be constructed to meet modern standards, and will be more light, bright and welcoming.

🏥Our new hospital provides us with an exciting opportunity to enhance patient care and experience by making use of new technologies.

This could include things like digital signage to help you find your way around and self-check in desks for when you arrive.

We are now at an exciting point where we are starting to get the site ready for our new hospital.

This map shows the current thinking of the work that needs to take place before we start building our new hospital.

As with any construction project there is likely to be some disruption across the site whilst the work takes place, but we are working hard to minimise this.

Did you know that all patients in the new hospital will get their own ensuite room?

This is the same for every new hospital in the New Hospital Programme. Each room will be about 22.5 square metres (including the ensuite bathroom) which is bigger than our current single side rooms.

🏥Our new hospital will have 100% single en-suite rooms for patients.

Across the world, many countries have already moved to a single room model of inpatient care, including Australia and Sweden. This approach supports improved privacy, better infection prevention control, and a more comfortable experience for patients and their families.

Here in the UK, hospitals such as the Royal Liverpool Hospital now offer 100% single inpatient rooms.

We are at an exciting stage in our planning where we are looking at the design of our new hospital🏥

As we are part of the government’s New Hospital Programme, our new hospital will have 100% single ensuite rooms which will help create the best possible experience for patients and their families.

They will help improve privacy, dignity, comfort and help reduce the spread of infections. There will also be areas for patients to socialise if they wish.

We were pleased to welcome the New Hospital Programme (NHP) Digital Director, Sarah Thomas, and her team to Airedale last week to discuss the plans for our new hospital.

The visit provided an important opportunity to discuss national digital updates, progress with our new hospital, as well as challenges, opportunities and next steps which will help to progress the digital design for our new hospital.

We were proud to attend Bradford Council's Built Different Bradford event last night, as one of their seven game-changing projects.

During the event, we shared the opportunities that our new hospital presents, including:

• Improved design of hospital spaces
• Supporting community development
• Delivering social value
• Reducing environmental impact

The event showcased Bradford’s ambitious plan for growth, regeneration and skills over the next ten years. Other game-changer projects include Southern Gateway, Mass Transit, City Village, Towns Transformation and Hy-Bradford.

We recently attended the Wharfedale and Craven Integrated Neighbourhood Health Team Workshop to look at how care can be brought closer to people’s homes.

The event, arranged by the Wharfedale, Airedale and Craven Alliance (WACA) and Bradford District and Craven ICB, brought together primary care, community care, the local authority, and the voluntary community sector.

Freya Sledding, Clinical Director for the Securing the Future programme, gave an update on the new hospital and the opportunities it presents to bring more hospital care into community settings, one of the three shifts in the government’s 10 Year Health Plan for England.
