Did you know? Our Emergency Department (which you may know as "A&E") is for life or limb-threatening injuries or illnesses only 🚫

As patients are seen in our Emergency Department by clinical priority (and not by time of arrival), you may find there are a number of other care pathways you can access for quicker treatment, including:

Your local GP surgery πŸ‘¨β€βš•οΈπŸ‘©β€βš•οΈ
Your local pharmacies πŸ’Š
Our Urgent Treatment Centres at both Lister Hospital and the New QEII Hospital πŸ₯

And if you're unsure, remember you can phone NHS 111 for guidance by dialling 111. They can signpost you to the most appropriate place for your health need 🎯

Our Emergency Department (ED) is very busy 🚫

We're seeing a lot of patients who could be treated quicker within community care, or at our Urgent Treatment Centre's at Lister Hospital in Stevenage or the New QEII in Welwyn Garden City πŸ₯

If it's not life or limb-threatening, please think NHS 111 before heading to our ED and keep our emergency services for those who need it most πŸ’™
