February Round-Up at A R K ✨

For a short month, we’ve certainly packed a lot in!

📍 We held multiple appointments in Stevenage, alongside meetings in Hitchin, Aspenden, Hinxworth, Great Denham, Watton at Stone, Steeple Morden and Letchworth — supporting clients across the region.

💻 We also conducted a number of appointments via Zoom, giving clients flexibility and convenience when they need it most.

Important Reminder ⤵️

At A R K we are always creating Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs) for clients. We can do our part in setting up the LPAs relatively quickly; but then the documents have to be sent to the Office of Public Guardian (OPG) for registration. It is currently taking approximately 12 weeks for the registration process to be completed, and this often comes as a shock to our clients who need the LPAs to be usable quickly.

When an LPA is needed for health, it will quite often be needed urgently because someone is quite ill. During that 12 week wait, there can be a real deterioration in health, especially if Alzheimer’s or Dementia is involved, or something like a stroke has occurred.

We would love to be able to wave a magic wand to get them registered quicker, but unfortunately that is beyond our powers. Sadly, there is no way to speed up the process even in an urgent situation.

⚠️ This is why we always urge people to get LPAs in place before they are needed, like a kind of insurance policy document. By doing this you will avoid a lot of stress for your family, and the horrible feeling of helplessness they will feel if you suddenly become ill and they are unable to act on your behalf.

A.R.K. Lasting Powers & Wills is a family company based in Stevenage, providing caring and professional Will writing, Lasting Power of Attorney and Pre-paid Funeral Plan services. We will visit you at home* at a time convenient to you. A Will appointment typically lasts around an hour; and if you require Lasting Powers of Attorney you can expect to spend about 30-45 minutes giving us the information and signatures needed in order for us to compile your professionally drawn up documents.

We will discuss your funeral requirements with sensitivity, and there will be absolutely no pressure to buy a Funeral Plan. We will just explain the options. You can have peace of mind knowing that your needs will be looked after by a professional company with all the processes, systems and insurances in place to ensure that you and your family will be protected from the worst. *If you would prefer to visit us during office hours this can also be arranged.
