The Muster Point

The Muster Point The Muster Point CIC supports the Armed Forces community through drop-in hubs, peer support, signposting, and our podcast. Company No. 16546675

Veteran-led, community-driven, and here to reduce isolation and improve lives across Hertfordshire and beyond. The Muster Point is a veteran-led support group in Stevenage, providing camaraderie, guidance, and assistance for ex-service personnel. We host weekly meetups (Tuesdays, 10 AM-12 PM at Fairlands Valley Lakes), offering a safe space to connect, share experiences, and access mental health, financial, and employment support. With events, workshops, and advocacy, we ensure no veteran is left behind.

It wasn’t easier back then… it was just simpler.
No decisions. No choices. No IKEA.

Last week, we sat down with Hertfordshire Police to start shaping a clear strategy for this year’s Armed Forces Week.

The focus is simple: better awareness, better access, and better support for the Armed Forces community across Hertfordshire.

We discussed how to effectively promote:

✅ Forcer Protocol – ensuring veterans in crisis are identified and supported appropriately
✅ Op NOVA – providing tailored support for veterans in contact with the justice system
✅ And the wider Armed Forces community, including serving personnel, veterans, and their families

The aim is to use Armed Forces Week as a platform to:

✅ Raise awareness internally within policing
✅ Share clear information with the public
✅ Highlight real stories and impact
✅ Strengthen connections between services and the veteran community

This is about more than recognition. It’s about making sure support is visible, accessible, and working when it’s needed most.

Positive steps, strong collaboration, and a shared commitment to doing better.

A productive meeting today with Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, discussing the real impact The Muster Point is having on the veteran community.

From creating a space where veterans can reconnect, to supporting individuals into the right services without them having to fight the system alone, the need is clear, and the outcomes are real.

We also explored new opportunities to work together, strengthen local support, and build better pathways for veterans across the borough.

This is how change happens, through collaboration, understanding, and action.

No one said a word.
Everyone knew.
He still finished the tab.

No excuses now.
If you’re a veteran, get yourself down to The Muster Point — Fairlands Valley Lakes, Stevenage.

☀️ Blue skies, strong turnout, and a reminder of what this is all about.

Another solid Tuesday at The Muster Point. Sunshine overhead, brews on, and a proper crowd of veterans turning up for each other.

Days like this matter. No big speeches, no pressure, just connection, support, and a place where people get it.

Today we also took a moment to recognise Dean Wallis.

Grew up in Stevenage.
Joined the Royal Navy alongside his brothers.
Served during the Gulf War on board HMS Gloucester.
Passed away on 14th February 2026.

Dean’s family and friends chose to support The Muster Point in his memory. That contribution means something. It helps keep this going, for the veterans who turn up every week, and for those who haven’t made it down yet.

He served. He’s remembered.

If you’re a veteran and you’re local, get yourself down.

No goodbye.
No explanation.
Still back like nothing happened.
You know exactly who this is.

You’re not meant to…
but everyone’s done it.
