The Muster Point

The Muster Point The Muster Point CIC supports the Armed Forces community through drop-in hubs, peer support, signposting, and our podcast. Company No. 16546675

Veteran-led, community-driven, and here to reduce isolation and improve lives across Hertfordshire and beyond. The Muster Point is a veteran-led support group in Stevenage, providing camaraderie, guidance, and assistance for ex-service personnel. We host weekly meetups (Tuesdays, 10 AM-12 PM at Fairlands Valley Lakes), offering a safe space to connect, share experiences, and access mental health, financial, and employment support. With events, workshops, and advocacy, we ensure no veteran is left behind.

Even the DS has weighed in.

A big shout-out to Billy Billingham from SAS: Who Dares Wins for sending Steve a get-well-soon message.

Orders received loud and clear:
✔️ Get well
✔️ Get off the biff
✔️ Stop blagging it

When Billy says you’re fit for duty, there’s no arguing. See you back on your feet soon, Steve — excuses revoked, banter fully reinstated.

One year ago today, The Muster Point began.

What started as an idea is now a community.

Built on brews, banter, honesty, and looking out for one another.
Thank you to everyone who has shown up, spread the word, volunteered, supported, donated, shared a post, or simply pulled up a chair. You made this happen.
Here’s to the last year.
And to many more to come.
Still here. Still standing. Still mustering.

NEW: The Ladies Muster

We’re launching The Ladies Muster — a space for women who have served, are still serving, or have supported the Armed Forces as family members.

If you’re looking for good company, proper banter, and a relaxed environment with people who get it, this one’s for you.

🗓 Sunday 15th February
⏰ 11am–1pm
📍 The Old Red Lion, Stevenage, SG2 9XR

The group will be run by Amanda, one of our female veterans and yes, that means Stu and Steve will be absolutely nowhere in sight.

Much like they were when the rifles came out for cleaning.

No pressure. No labels. Just turn up.

Big thanks to the team at the Old Red Lion for getting behind The Muster Point. They’ve got future events coming up in support of us, so keep an eye on their socials and get involved.

If you’re a veteran or supporter and fancy good company without the pressure – this is your invite.

Some people do bake sales.
Alex decided to run 100 miles in Cornwall… in January.

Alex is taking on the Arc of Attrition — one of the UK’s toughest ultra-marathons.

Rugged cliffs, relentless elevation, sideways weather, zero sympathy.

All within a 36-hour cut-off.
Why?

To support our work at The Muster Point CIC.
He’s aiming to raise £1,000 and every pound helps us keep doing what we do for the Armed Forces community.

If you fancy backing controlled suffering for a good cause, the link to donate is in the comments....

Give what you can. Share it far and wide.
And remind Alex he chose this.

The Muster Point is now an official member of ASDIC.

Today marks an important step forward for The Muster Point as we formally join ASDIC.

ASDIC brings together organisations working across defence, industry, health, employment, and community support to improve outcomes for the Armed Forces community. Becoming a member strengthens our ability to collaborate, share best practice, and ensure veterans in Stevenage and Hertfordshire can access the right support at the right time.

This membership supports our commitment to:

✅ Stronger partnership working
✅ Better signposting and joined-up support
✅ Raising the voice of veterans at a strategic level
✅ Ensuring no veteran feels isolated or forgotten

We look forward to working alongside ASDIC members to drive meaningful, practical change for veterans and their families.

Tonight, The Muster Point presented the work we do at the monthly meeting of the Royal British Legion Stevenage branch.

The response was positive, constructive, and encouraging. There is a shared ambition to work more closely together to strengthen support for the Armed Forces community across Stevenage.

Collaboration, joined-up working, and local action remain essential if we are serious about ensuring veterans and their families are not left behind. This feels like a strong step in the right direction.

Tuesday Muster | New faces. Same banter.

🎵 Oh the weather outside was frightful,
Cold, wet, snowy and spiteful,
But inside the brews did flow,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.🎵

While the snow came down hard outside,
inside it was business as usual.

New faces through the door, old stories, familiar laughs, and the same banter that makes a Tuesday a Tuesday.

Brews on, kettle working overtime, and Steve measuring the troops, like a seamstress possessed.

No ranks. No pressure.
Just veterans around a table,
warm, welcome, and connected.

Tuesday Muster.
Whatever the weather.

❄️ Cold outside? Then get on parade inside. ☕🥓
If the weather’s freezing, forget standing it out.

Come into the warm and join us for a hot brew and an egg banjo at this morning’s Muster.

And let’s be honest…

Forget the old saying “if it ain’t snowing, we ain’t going.”

If it’s cold, we’re putting the kettle on.
