You can tell it’s Spring marathon season! We have been so busy in clinic seeing marathoners for both physiotherapy appointments and sports massage with Steve.

This incredible lady has had a few niggles for us to deal with.

FVS Linda is coached by Georgie Hooper and also sees her for PT. I have been working in conjunction with Georgie.

Linda also sees Suzy Hawkins for sports massage (this is also who Steve sees for sports massage).

I love collaborative working with these other professional women.

The patient also gets the best outcome when we all work together.

Good luck for Paris marathon on Sunday Linda! I hope you enjoy it as much as we did in 2024.

Don’t forget we have a two fantastic home visit physiotherapists; Sharon and Emily.

Sharon and Emily have years of experience in treating orthopaedic problems, particularly post joint replacement surgery.

If you know someone who is struggling after surgery and unable to get into clinic, then we can send Sharon or Emily to see them at home.

This lady was certainly very pleased….

Tomorrow this amazing lady, Carmien, will start her challenge of 12 marathons in 12 days.

For the record, this is not something we would recommend as physios 🫣 but Carmien is a sensible lady and a very seasoned runner and she has prepared and planned well for her events.

She came to see me for a ‘body MOT’ a few weeks ago to check for any particular areas of weakness or tightness that she needed to work on.

She has been seeing Steve regularly for sports massage and Charlie for acupuncture for all over body tonification - which is a Chinese acupuncture method to boost energy and nourish the body after heavy exercise.

Her goal for the year is 20 marathons in 2026 - she is raising funds for a wonderful charity called Free A Girl which works to free young girls from sexual exploitation.

I will share her fundraising link in the comments if anyone would like to donate.

Today I celebrated International Women’s Day by running a half marathon in Nottingham with my daughter Sophie and also Steve.

I have two amazing daughters - one stayed at home revising for her A-level mocks and the other one ran with us.

Sophie has trained so hard for this despite being in her second year of uni and having exams and assignments to deal with. I’m so proud of her resilience.

She was rewarded with an 8 minute PB 🥳

Steve and I also got a PB - Steve with 1:55 and me finally dipping under 2 hours at 1:59.

A brilliant day and back home for dinner at The Fisherman with our younger daughter.

Super proud of both my girls 🩷🩵

Running into the weekend like Carolyn….🤩

This incredible lady has allowed me to post this video of her out running yesterday (in her ASK Physio vest 😍).

Carolyn runs with FVS. Last year she had a partial knee replacement in February. Unfortunately she also had a stroke in October but as you can see she is recovering well.

For a lady who celebrated a big birthday recently I think she’s amazing and an absolute inspiration. She comes to hydro weekly and has found it has helped her a lot.

Lots of races on this weekend - good luck to everyone running Cambridge half marathon or any other events this Sunday.

Here is Emily with another one of our hydrotherapy success stories;

Ruth has consented to us posted about her experience.

She’s been coming to hydro as a 1:1 with Emily for the last 6 weeks.

She reports that since attending hydrotherapy;

1. Her back pain has reduced significantly.

2. She has had no further episodes of sciatica.

3. She no longer needs to use a stick outdoors.

4. She can stand and walk for longer periods.

But most importantly…..

She managed to take her granddaughter out for the day to the zoo without any problems 🩶

She’s booked in for further hydrotherapy as she loves how good it makes her feel!
