At Healthy Balance Osteopaths we have been seeing a lot of sciatic pain recently. Sciatica pain is usually felt in the low back, buttock, and back of the leg, although you can feel it as far as the foot and ankle. True sciatica is when the nerve is compressed by a disc in the low back, which causes the nerve to become irritated and sends pain into your low back, buttock and sometimes thigh and leg.

Piriformis syndrome can mimic true sciatica, it has similar symptoms. You can still get pain in the low back, buttock, thigh and foot but the nerve is being trapped in the buttock deep under the gluteal muscles. We often treat these complaints and can give tailored exercises to help support recovery. Please enquire, we may be able to get you out of pain. Online booking available.
