Expression of Interest - Online Consultation with OT Students (Fully Funded)
Hello and welcome! :)
Our names are Niamh and Beth, and we are students from Glasgow Caledonian University, currently nearing the end of our second placement as part of our master’s degree in occupational therapy.
As part of our placement, we are looking to work with up to five families currently accessing BounceOT Stirling CIC to provide support and explore ways in which additional help can be offered.
We would love to invite parents and carers of children and adults with additional support needs to join us for an online consultation via MS Teams (up to one hour).
During this session, we will take the time to connect with you, listen to your experiences, and help identify what further support a Specialist Occupational Therapist at BounceOT Stirling CIC may be able to offer.
Depending on the responses to this survey and availability of the OT team, there may also be an opportunity to offer a short block of fully funded direct support, focusing on coaching and strengths-based approaches.
Before starting our master’s degree, Beth worked as a support worker for adults with learning disabilities’ where she supported adults with various physical, cognitive, and sensory differences. Niamh does not have prior experience working with individuals with learning disabilities but is looking forward to the valuable opportunity to listen, learn, and gain insight into the lived experiences of families and individuals with learning disabilities.
We are passionate about providing meaningful support and we are excited to see how this placement with BounceOT Stirling CIC can make a positive difference.
If you are interested, please fill out the survey to express your interest in participating.
We look forward to the opportunity to connect and work with you!
Thank you!
Niamh and Beth 😊
What can an Occupational Therapist help with?
Children & Young People -
Occupational therapists help babies, infants, children and young people grow, learn, have fun, socialise and play – so they can develop, thrive and reach their full potential. The focus could be on self-care, like getting ready to go out, eating a meal or using the toilet. It could be around being productive – going to nursery or school, or volunteering. Or it could simply be about improving their ability to play with friends, compete at sport or take part in hobbies.
Adults with Learning Disabilities -
Occupational therapists help people with all types of learning disabilities to enjoy life, work and leisure activities as independently as possible. These activities range from things around the home, like cooking, or using public transport so they can make the most of their community’s facilities. The goal might be to support people into voluntary work or employment or help with parenting skills. Occupational therapists often look to include other family members and support workers in their approach too – so everyone understands the needs of the individual.
