5 years ago, Covid closed our gym ā›”ļø

Our doors shut overnight 🚪

For a lot of gyms everything stopped

For us, it meant going back to how this all started

Outdoor sessions- and thankfully the weather was on our side ā˜€ļø

That period showed me something I’ll never forget

It’s one thing to tell yourself you’re going to do something but telling EVERYONE else is a game changer…

Here’s something most people don’t realise šŸ‘‡

The fat stored around your glutes and thighs isn’t just there by accident

That area has a high concentration of something called alpha-2 receptors- and these are the little gatekeepers that make fat loss in the lower body more stubborn than areas like your upper body šŸ’Ŗ

That’s why:
You can lose weight, Your face gets leaner, Your waist tightens… But your hips and bum feel like they’re holding on for dear life

Frustrating- But not random šŸ¤”

Here’s where it gets interesting…

Hormones influence how fat is stored and released in these areas- particularly oestrogen balance..

When oestrogen metabolism isn’t balanced optimally (think high stress, poor sleep, ultra-processed diet, minimal resistance training), fat storage in the lower body becomes even more stubborn

And this is where your leafy greens come in.

We’re all wired that way…
We want to look like we’ve got it together. Like we’re being productive and putting in the work… Even when we don’t feel like that’s completely true

I see it all the time

The scale drops… for a while
