We love to connect people to nature through time-honoured crafts, have opportunities to share
traditional (and new) skills in good company with creative people, and learn how to use and
protect the natural materials and resources around us.

When was the last time you crafted something out of wood with your own hands and learnt a new skill, that could turn into a new hobby?

Participants in our Wild Thing weaving session will make their own set of weaving sticks and learn how to create a variety of different items. We will also introduce the Peg Loom style of weaving, which goes back to Viking times. This ancient form of making cloth is a great way to learn the art of traditional weaving. Using a range of materials to create a practical piece of art, including wool, recycled material, fleece and natural fibres, you can produce an impressive piece quite quickly.

All materials, equipment and refreschment for the session will be provided.

Thursday, September 19 · 6:30 - 8:30pm

If you are interested you can book a place - the Eventbrite Link is here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/wild-thing-weaving-session-tickets-1000669026997

Strips of plant fibers, vines, hair, hide were twisted into cord by ancient people long before they learned to spin and weave. Rope making was a skill known in all tribes and civilizations around the world. Ropes were one of our earliest tools to obtain food, shelter and clothing.

Join us this Saturday to explore how we can twist and braid fibers into cord.
You'll get to make and take home a rope spinner, a branch lucet, viking whipcording bobbins and a small sample hammock.

Please book on eventbrite: at Wild Thing Sessions/Stirling - Cord, rope & hammock making
