It is Spring 🌱🌼☀️
Longer, lighter nights and wee signs of new beginnings everywhere. Some of my clients and I have been feeling the changes. I'm sure that wee ray of sunshine in the counselling room has added to the therapeutic frame this week!
In these rooms, I work from a psychodynamic perspective. I aim to support you in uncovering your unconscious thoughts, feelings and memories in an attempt to understand why present day challenges feel particularly difficult or painful.
Rooted in more traditional psychoanalytical theory, this type of counselling requires exploration of our past and a suitably trained therapist to work with transference, defence mechanisms and attachment (to name a few!) through talking therapy. But my favourite part?
The client has freedom.
Our sessions are open ended, freely expressed discussions in which the client can settle into the frame of consistent, non-judgement, empathetic listening.
In these rooms I meet a variety of people. Mothers, fathers, teenagers, daughters, sons, professionals, students... for a variety of reasons.
Grief, loneliness, parenting, infidelity, identity... the themes are endless.
If you would like to find out more about this approach, I'd be happy to hear from you. ☺️
