THUNDER ✨

Who knew shetlands could be a pleasure to work with?! 🤯

Thunder initially presented with lameness in his nearside hind leg, accompanied by clear signs of decreased circulation in the affected area. Following treatment with our INSTANTCRYO device, there was a marked improvement in blood flow to the region, facilitating enhanced circulation. As a result, the lameness was significantly reduced, demonstrating the effectiveness of the cryotherapy in alleviating Thunder’s discomfort and promoting recovery. This treatment not only addressed the immediate symptoms but also contributed to the overall rehabilitation process by improving vascular function in the injured limb. 🤍❄️

✨ A I M E E ✨

The lovely Aimee presents with persistent pain in her ankle following a tragic riding accident 5+ years ago. After a brief conversation we agreed INSTANTCRYO would stand a good chance of easing this pain but a course of treatments may be best. After just one treatment Aimee felt the benefits of INSTANTCRYO and is still pain free 2 weeks later.

If you’re interested in potentially getting on top of your pain like Aimee did, please get in touch and we can discuss treatment options with you ❄️🤍

Proud flesh, also known as exuberant granulation tissue, is an overgrowth of tissue that can occur during the healing process of a wound.

Cryotherapy through InstantCryo Equine can be an effective way to manage and reduce proud flesh in these wounds.

Here's how cryotherapy works on proud flesh wounds:

❄️ Reducing Blood Flow: Cold temperatures cause vasoconstriction, which is the narrowing of blood vessels. By applying liquid co2 at -78*C to the wound, we are drastically reducing blood flow to the area. This is essential because excessive blood supply to the proud flesh can contribute to its growth.

❄️ Reducing Inflammation: Cold therapy helps to reduce inflammation by decreasing the release of inflammatory chemicals and enzymes at the wound site. This can prevent the further development of proud flesh.

❄️ Slowing Cell Proliferation: Cold temperatures slow down the rate of cell division and tissue growth, which is particularly important in the context of proud flesh. Excessive tissue growth in the form of proud flesh is the result of an imbalance between tissue creation and tissue destruction. Cryotherapy helps restore this balance.

❄️ Pain Relief: Cryotherapy can also provide pain relief by numbing the area, which can be especially beneficial for horses experiencing discomfort due to proud flesh wounds.

❄️ BacterioStatic: Due to the cold temperature, cryotherapy can help prevent infections to wound sites.

❄️❄️ PLEASE NOTE ❄️❄️ Often wounds require a course of antibiotics, we always suggest contacting your vet first!

✨ LINDA ✨

Reviews like this are what makes it all worthwhile 🤍

Linda went over on her ankle again last night after injuring it a fortnight ago. With having 15+ horses herself bed rest is not quite an option. The ankle was considerably swollen and bruising was starting to show, along with inflammation being visible on our thermal imaging software. After one session Linda was visibly more comfortable and mobile. A block treatment will be carried out to give Linda the best chance of doing what she does best and jumping fantastic rounds this weekend!

Thank you for trusting us ❄️🤍

A tendon bow, aka a bowed tendon, is a common injury that can occur in horses, particularly when bandaging is accidentally done incorrectly.

A bowed tendon more often than not refers to the swelling and damage to the superficial digital flexor tendon (SDFT) or the deep digital flexor tendon (DDFT) in the horse's leg - however in this case the bow as actually occurred at the front of the hind leg at the extensor tendon.

A tendon bow can range from mild to severe, depending on the extent of the damage. In mild cases, the tendon may appear slightly swollen and the horse may exhibit minimal lameness. In severe cases, the tendon may be visibly enlarged and the horse may be severely lame, unable to bear weight on the affected leg.

Treating a tendon bow typically involves rest, cold therapy (such as icing the affected area, and anti-inflammatory medications to reduce swelling and pain. In some cases, veterinary intervention may be necessary, including the use of corrective, supportive bandages, ultrasound therapy, or even surgery for severe cases.

It is important to note that tendon bows can have long-term consequences for the horse's soundness and athletic performance and should not be taken lightly.

On a positive note - after just ONE InstantCryo Equine cryotherapy treatment, this horses bowed tendon which had been present for some time, returned to normal appearance 🤍❄️

What are the benefits of Equine Cryo? 🐎❄️

❄️ PAIN RELIEF ❄️

In reaction to the extreme cold, hormones including adrenaline and B-Endorphines are released which are powerful natural pain killers.
This provides immediate pain relief.

❄️ REDUCES SYSTEMIC INFLAMMATION ❄️

Stimulates immediate improvement in blood flow and lymphatic drainage. Promotes reduction of haematomas, oedemas and swellings.

❄️ MUSCLE RELAXATION ❄️

Reduced systemic inflammation reduces the muscle tension, which increases the range of movement and allows faster rehabilitation.

❄️ FEEL GOOD FACTOR ❄️

Encourages a favourable biological response to the cold stress.

This has been linked to improved levels of well-being.
