A Special Message from our Co-Founder, Debra 🧡

Dear Friends,

Having just returned from Elephant Havens, and with Thanksgiving upon us, I’ve been reflecting on all the things we’re grateful for. The truth is, I find myself doing this often, not just during Thanksgiving week. And every single time, each of you is at the very top of that list.

Without you, whether through your generous donations or simply by cheering us on, Elephant Havens would not exist. I say this over and over, but I want you to truly know it, each of you has played an important part in turning this dream into a reality.

Along the way, we have made so many wonderful new friends, and we cherish the special friends who have been with us since the very beginning of this journey. Your presence in our lives has been one of the greatest gifts of all.

From the first matching funds challenge eight years ago(!) to today, it has been a whirlwind of miracles with things falling into place day after day, month after month…all because of you.

Together, you have given 39 orphaned baby elephants a second chance at a full, wild life.

You’ve brought joy to children by providing transportation to and from school, and you’ve shared in their pride as they show our bus driver their report cards and collect a treat for doing well.

You’ve helped bring fresh water to our village, proper flushing toilets to the local school (something many of the children had never experienced), and specialized hair care for over 100 children through Kay’s Ellie Hair Project. The list truly goes on and on.

You’ve supported us not only with your gifts, but with your hearts. You’ve been there with compassion, when we start crying for no apparent reason, offering the loving hug we need when you find we’re grieving the loss of a rescued little one. You give us the strength to carry on.

My greatest wish is that each of you could experience the joy and love you’ve helped create at Elephant Havens. It is a place like no other. You have changed so many lives, including mine and Scott’s, and for that I am deeply grateful. These last eight years have been the most rewarding of my life because you have been part of them.

Please take a few moments to reflect on the extraordinary joy and hope you have helped create.
