We’ve had the privilege of supporting this family three times now, something we never take for granted.

Most recently, we said goodbye to Cecil at the beautiful Southern Cemetery, surrounded by bluebells and spring sunlight. A small, intimate service, just as it should be.

Cecil’s flat cap was laid on his coffin to stay with him, along with a nod to a life well lived… and maybe one or two crafty cigs for the journey.

It’s moments like this that remind us what really matters. Being trusted to get it right, time and time again.

Under the gorgeous spring sun, we said goodbye to a lady who absolutely knew her own mind.

She was remembered with a few cheeky stories that had people smiling as much as anything else. She wasn’t one for fuss, and truth be told, she probably preferred horses to most people.

So it felt right that two horses led her to the crematorium today. It suited her perfectly.

Her flowers were made by a close family friend at Enchanted Woods Bespoke Floristry and couldn’t have been more fitting.

A proper send off, done her way 🤍

Sometimes families need everything to come together very quickly.

We recently had the privilege of arranging a Hindu funeral within just three days, ensuring every detail was in place for a meaningful and traditional farewell.

The family spent time with their loved one at our chapel, carrying out the washing and preparations themselves, guided by us throughout. It was important to them that everything was done properly, with care, respect, and understanding of the customs and rituals involved.

They had spoken with a number of local funeral directors before choosing us, and we were honoured to be trusted with such an important responsibility.

The service took place on a Saturday, and we ensured everything ran smoothly, allowing the family to focus on what truly mattered.

This is what we do.
We listen, we adapt, and we make things happen when families need us most.

✨ This one means more than most…

This year I’m taking on the 32km Woodbank to Buxton walk for Lync to the Stars.

This one’s personal.

I had the privilege of looking after this family at the worst moment of their lives… and since then I’ve got to know them. What they’ve created in Lync’s name is something really special.

They support families facing the unimaginable, helping them feel less alone when it matters most.

I see that reality every day. And this cause genuinely makes a difference.

If you can donate, even a couple of quid, it really helps:

If not, a share means a lot ❤️

We often talk about people who face their own mortality as being brave, but to face your own mortality at a young age, with a young family and then to write your own eulogy for your funeral is another level of bravery.

Gary’s own words were read out to the many people who came to say goodbye to him, he left no one in any doubt about how he felt, and he managed to raise some laughs too, it really was one of the best eulogies we have heard.

With his football club mascot and scarf proudly displayed, a slideshow of incredible pictures shown to the sound of the muppets Gary was truly celebrated.

As always it was an honour to be asked to care him and his amazing family.

It’s always a strange emotion when we are asked to look after someone whom we have supported before. It’s sad as we have built relationships with them and to now have to care for them following their passing can be emotional.

But it is also super lovely to know that we meant so much to them that they wouldn’t have wanted anyone else to look after them on their final journey.

After caring for her husband, Diane told her family where she should go if something happened to her, and last week in the stunning willow coffin surrounded by so many people we said goodbye.

What a truly gorgeous family to have worked for.

With engraved hearts sporting messages from her grandchildren, she really was surrounded with love. Her family chose the Seagrass coffin, a really special coffin choice with subtle greens and rounded edges it makes things softer and more natural feeling.

Adorned with flowers created for her by a family friend, she was truly celebrated

One of the most special spaces in each of our funeral homes 🤍🦋

Our Remembrance Butterfly Wall is here for families to visit whenever they wish.

Each butterfly carries a handwritten message. A name. A memory. A few words that mean everything. Families write on the wings and place them on the wall so their loved one can remain with us, and with them, forever more.

Over time the wall has grown, quietly and beautifully.

Every time we walk past it, we are reminded just how important this work is. Behind every butterfly is a life, a family, and a story we have been trusted to look after.

It is an honour we never take for granted. 🤍

Professionalism matters.

From the vehicles we use to the people who represent us, every detail counts.

We have recently received some truly kind cards and thoughtful gifts from families we have supported 🤍

It is never expected. It is never asked for. And it genuinely means more than we can properly put into words.

To be trusted at such a difficult time is something we never take lightly. So when families take the time afterwards to send a card, drop in a gift, or simply say thank you, it really does stop us in our tracks.

Your kindness reminds us why we do what we do.

From all of us at Memories, thank you. It is appreciated more than you know.
